I just bought Tales of Abyss and also Dragon Quest VIII. Both look good but Dragon Quest looks to have more features, not sure which to start first. Have any of you played either?

Hah, I don't believe DQ is anything like FF7.
The graphics are done by Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball).
The battle system is turn based, sort of like the FF series, but I didn't have myself being reminded of Final Fantasy.
When you level, you gain skill points and put them into five catagories; three weapons, fisticuffs, and a special attribute.
I personally loved Tales of the Abyss, probably just because I'm a Tales fan
I just LOVE the Tales series battle system.
