I see what most of you seem to mean...I shouldn't worry about it, it's just a game.
It came up because he kept talking about how he can't play on school days, then asked what school I go to.
I should've just said 'you're getting too personal' rather than tell him I graduated and go from there.
I feel quite a bit better now <is a sensitive girl who gets nervous easily

Even in the most "cutesy" MMORPGS, the average player is usually at least in their mid-teens. I think I read somewhere that someone from Nexon said the average Maplestory player is around 19 or 20. Though Latale looks like it's made for someone pretty young, I think 11 is just too young for the genre so I wouldn't worry what their parents think. There probably are some ill-intentioned older people in the game and if I had an 11 year old I wouldn't be crazy about him/her socializing with older teens either. Personally, when I look for new games, I try to stay away from games that look like they're geared towards younger kids. I don't think it's bad for someone older to play them but I don't know why you would want to deal with people that young, not that all of them are bad. I still play Maplestory on and off but I meet a lot of people around my age still so I don't consider it to be a big deal.

It'd be creepy if you were hitting on them, but playing with younger people/older people isn't creepy at all.
Reminds me when I was playing a Pokemon orpg, I said my age and the kid thought I was a loser and every single other person on the map said their ages, and they were all 18+

I care more about maturity than age... Age just seems like an unimportant detail, the most important is how the person acts...
Seriously, knowing the age of a person when playing an online game is just as useless as knowing what he/she looks like, that'not what you should care about, you should just care about : is it fun to play with that person, after all you're playing for fun.... or at least you should be...

I played with my Best friend's(She's a girl) Mom and she's about 37, I played EQ2 and WoW with her... and we had alot of fun. Infact she's about lv70x2 on WoW and lv50x3 or so on EQ.

erm... I am only 16 and i find it extremely hard to find someone my age... all of them are <=14. if there is someone who is on my friends list then they are usually 18+.

well it depends, if you two got along well before you learned each other's ages there should be no problem as long as there arent any realationships going on there. It's not creepy if your just friends and just playing the game together

It wouldn't make me uncomfortable knowing an 8-year old resides as the master of my Guild, especially if he's doing a damn good job. For some people though, as seen in this thread, knowing personal information about the person you're playing with could have them decide not to play with you anymore. Let's say for example that you're extremely homophobic, what if your online gaming buddy is gayer than the 'Rocky Horror Picture Show?'
