Reputation: 10Warhammer Online = RvR (Global PvP)
World of Warcraft = PvE/PvP
City of Heroes = PvE (?)
Guild Wars = PvE/PvP
Mabinogi = PvE
I think Warhammer Online rocks, I love Global PvP, and yes the hype did burn out but they still have a nice solid community!

My char sorry for how dark it seems for some reason my screenshots come out very dark in some spots the game its self is not like that
If you want pvp, WAR is definately the best choice. Still, I like the PQ's and just soloing too. They could add some more dungeons though.
Reputation: 195you could get a free trial and see which one you enjoy more.
I tried WAR and AoC but realistically as far as the p2p mmorpg scene goes
WoW is the market leader and will be for awhile to come
Why? well they have a 4 year head start on everyone else and a shitload more pull with the expansions out compared to a new game that seems offer nothing ground breakingly new
also WAR community wise is dying out due to blizzard waiting and putting out WOTLK as soon as WAR came out..which really hurt their sales.
You could have the best mmorpg in the history of man kind
but if you don't have the pull..it will die very quickly..which is why alot of f2p mmorpgs struggle.
My opinion:
PvE: Lotro, WoW.
PvP: Warhammer Online
I'm currently playing Lotro and I'm really addicted! Superb game for a PvE lover.
Reputation: 11Right now I reccomend waiting for Darkfall or get CoX.WoW isn't a bad choice.
CoH/V, for the pure superhero fun.
WAR for fantasy PVP.
GW, is B2P but has a P2P quality, though you'll probably have to play in small doses. It can get boring quickly requiring a fairly long break. It plays a little like an RTS, merged with an RPG. With GW:EN it feels more of a dungeon crawler than ever, so if that's your kind of game then this is a good choice.
FFXI, A great PVE game. Fairly high learning curve, mostly due to its different control set up. Slower game play, but still fun. Limited character customisation, visually. Though it has allot to offer game play wise.
EVE, what I'm currently playing. Think Homeworld 2/ Freelancer. Has a higher learning curve than FFXI. Once I pushed past that though I loved it. You don't level up in the traditional sense, you have a few hundred thousand skill points and you spend those on upping skills. You gain SP every day, and skills level up over time, depending on your characters build they level up faster or slower. For example I'm levelling my Frigate skill to 4/5 from 3, thats going to take about 3 days total (each level before that took 30 mins to 13 hours). But you can play the game as usual while you wait.
EVE is fully PVP, so the golden rule is never leave a station with something you cant afford to loose. You have in-game police, and depending the security rating in your current area (best is 1.0, most dangerous is 0.0), your safer, or not. You could completely focus your character on resource gathering, crafting, or combat, or mix and match it. Has some interesting back story, a book based on the game, and a role-playing-heavy community.
I know I seem bias here, focusing more on EVE, but its simply because I'm fairly new to EVE and its all buzzing around in my head still.
Darkfall january 22nd.. wait till then for best game ever :/
