After playing loads of pay 2 play games in 08 (all of them...) ive come to notice that there are always two different servers for each region. One for the NA and one for EU.
im kinda wondering what is going on in the mmorpg market and when they will sort this issue out.
Since mmorpgs are also about meeting people from across the world and adventuring with them i hate it when i see restrictions on servers. These restrictions can even hurt games at times.
Now what confuses me is. Square Enix released FFXI in 2003/2004 (consoles were 04 wiki says) and they were able to deal with these issues.
Example:
Everyone plays on the same server no matter where your from and doesnt cause any lag issues.
Auto Translater in game to help with anyone who doesnt speak english and works amazing. I had a party with 3 other korean users and was able to communicate fine using the Auto Translate. Those who have played it see how well this is put together.
Consoles/PC users all on the same server which is by far the best idea ever. Sure there are not many mmorpgs that are on the consoles at the moment but im sure we will be seeing alot more soon.
An extra that may not be true but im not sure someone else can validate. Servers can Hold 5k people while other mmorpgs start their ques at 2k (WoW and WAR) if im wrong about WoW leave a comment.
I dunno why companies havent picked up on this especially since games are focusing alot on pvp nowadays and for decent pvp you need a large community.
Im sure alot of you guyz are NA players but i bet you have some EU friends. Leave a post with your opinion !
