I dunno. No games really seem overrated to me. I can understand why someone would like EVERY game...if its just not my thing theres no need for me to label it overrated.

If anything though, the Final Fantasy series. I hate those games >

Yeah I like the old ones too (that's the GBC/A version?) but what really got me into it was the trilogy, epic games.

FF7 is WAAAAAAY overated (Personal fav is 9). Metal Gear games just arn't that good (apart from maybe 3). GTA4 is also way overhyped i don't think it deserved GOTY simply because it has 4 in its title and does nothing new apart from making the city boring to look at and play in.

GTA4...I just don't like it. The driving blows.

But, hey, most people crying about FF7 being overrated didn't play the game back the days anyway.

People here don't understand that overrated doesnt mean the same thing as "an awesome game that you don't like." Halo series and WoW are the pinnacle of their genres, even the critics agree they are TOP NOTCH games. They aren't overrated just becuase they are popular. Something that is overrated is something that is popular, merely a result of hype. An example would be Age of Conan when it first released, most people agree now that it is not as good as it seemed to be when first launched. The areas are small and not much exploration to be had, teh combat was good but the classes were imbalanced etc. That is OVERRATED. Halo 3 and WoW and CoD4 are seriously not overrated they are excellent games whether you like it or not. Just don't label good games as overrated it makes you look like an idiot.

please dont take me wrong, I tried I mean I REALLY ****ING TRIED to like the game, but it just didnt suit me. I tried playing about 12 ****ing times, but I cant seem to get into it

Haha, I thought Chrono Cross was the game everybody forgot? After all Chrono Trigger is hailed by many as the best RPG ever(better than FF-series) by many. I actually enjoyed Chrono Cross alot, but mainly for its lovely soundtrack(I'm a sucker for soundtracks).
Europe never even got Chrono Cross....

I dont think that any FF game is overrated (MY OPINION DONT KILL ME). I just think everything is great with em, the music, the characters, the storylines, the unique battlesystem and much more, but thats just my opinion. I Halo 1-3 is a bit overrated, great storyline, but the games are tooooo short.

I liked FF 10, but even I knew that seymour was never the real villain since the first time I encountered him, that tends to happen to people who never played FF in the past and started playing FF 10

square tends to do this stuff in FF by putting one "apparent" villain then slapping the plot twist right in the middle to tell you who the real villain is, was almost trademarked with FF 7 and sephiroth, after 4 games (since the whole thing started from FF 6 onward) with this same plot you rather get the drill afterwards

luckily FF 12 got off of the square trademark, but if you look closely you'll see that vayne was never the true villain, but at least there weren't any fancy plothole out of nowhere or anything like that
