It really sucks to be generalized into the rest of america like that. I mean, I hate it just as much as the rest of the world, but theres nothing I can do.

i have to agree with oister this time.im getting tired of the "all americans are fat" stereotypes.and when getting into most arguments the other persons response is usually "get out of the house and go exercise you fat american ****"...im 5'9'' barely 140lbs...how is that fat?pretty much dont generalize us as a whole...get to know some of us before you judge<- reason im starting to believe most people from other countries are egotistical ****s.

that's one of the things I always wondered with some people in the US way of living or culture, why do they keep calling themselves "america"?, it's not like the US it's the only country in the american continent, I guess it's easier instead of saying "north america(n)" everytime

Well really US is not correct, we are the United States meaning there are many states or provinces that are connected, become one, of AMERICA, so really the US is really named America, and thus Americans. Also it was never because they thought they where better it was because it just stuck. The idea of calling us the United Statians or something sounds ugly and would never catch on anyways.
But besides that I hope that most people from outside America start to change their thoughts and perceptions on us in the next 4 years.

Ur correct its not a big deal at all. But in both of the American continents, only the US has the word America in its actual name. We are the only "united states" in both of the Americas, so why even bother including "north America" when it applies to south America also.

I didn't understand that part, how would north america would also apply to south america?, I know the country it's "united states of america" but the thing it's that some few people from the U.S name themselves proudly "american" and it shows a little too egocentric, like "we are the country and the continent, nobody else is" even tho that's not right, that's why I meant by some people (not everyone) believing they live in their own world in their "america"

just like latin americans name themselves "latinos" and feel like they have to hate on everyone on the US because they are arguably and factuably the biggest country on the whole continent and have a better life expectancy than most south american countries does and have to pin-point every error and every little mistake to justify that unreasonable hate, envy I know, but what can be done....

On another note, stereotyping America is harder than stereotyping almost any other country. It is by far the most diverse country on earth with the most variety of people from all over the world (called the "Melting Pot"), including many of u from Europe and wherever else. So even beginning to generalize them shows sum extreme dumbassness on ur part. Ya dig.

I don't know if you are refering to me since I am from venezuela not europe, I said that some and sometimes most people in the USA, doesn't mean I am generalizing as everyone there, since there are and will be good people in that country, it's like saying just because you had a bad president in these years you are all like that same president, sometimes the leader doesn't represent the majority

it's like us venezuelans with hugo chavez frias, the guy have given us a horrible, horrible image in outside countries, even tho the majority of people simply just doesn't like him at all, heck most people outside of venezuela think we are like cuba in our own "communist" society hating and raving against "capitalism" and "USA", just because of our president and his views
