Sounding out words.

My uncle is hell-bent on me teaching the kid. I'm not sure how to get him to say the words other than having him sound it out faster and faster until he can hear what it sounds like. Even then, he refuses to do it and then over thinks the situation and wears himself out.

No matter what I try, he doesn't understand that sounding out is essentially a superficial way of saying the word. <.<

Go, if possible, to an elementary school and ask (a) teacher(s) for advice.
I'm sure they know how to teach that kids.

When I teach my nephews maths or so I have a reward ready for them. It'll give them something to look forward to -> more afford.
