    Default So, hacked MMO accounts.

Hmm, recently suffered a little misfortunate, or rather, a mistake on my part.

Had a few and got home at midnight. Got an email from noreply@blizzard.com, and decided to shove all my account information to a rather well-executed scam.

Not sure how the said individual actually got his hands on a legitimate blizzard email address.

So, anyone with similar experience on MMOs? In particular, how is blizzard at returning compromised accounts?

Thing is, I gave out quite a bit more than just my password. Other than ownership of my original email address & credit card info, I have little leverage on the scammer.

Gonna make a call, but still, thanks.

Contact Blizzard support, they'll ask you for your secret word.

Also you can show them the emails of the conversation if you kept them, don't think they would help much though.

Haven't you ever read the silly tips screen that said a blizzard employee would NEVER ask for your account information? =p

Oh, and hes not really a prince from Nigeria (sorry had to throw that in there =p )

what i can never understand is how certain people end up getting scammed.

if you are a person who, say, is middle ages and WoW was their first ever mmo and thinks that the previous window is lost forever when you open a new one and that a megahurt is something you get after falling down a flight of marble steps, then in those circumstances i can understand said person giving up info about their account and also (LOL) their credit card details.

but you are an internet junkie pepped up on goofballs and capslock. its literally impossible to spend any amount of time on a gaming forum without hearing some kind of sob story about an account getting stolen or "hacked" as people like to call it. yeah, if i only discovered the internet right this second i could be excused for thinking that the definition of the word "hack" is "ask for someones most confidential data in a nice polite manner".

hmm... i forgot what i was supposed to be talking about in this post now. oh well.

Hack would be making a REAL external device and infiltrate your wireless network -> your PC and start the PC without you knowing, get your passwords and taking your account by force.

Account info is one thing but you gave your effing credit card info? I'm sorry that's just downright unbelievable...might as well give them your wallet with your ID and any passports you have while your at it lol

On the subject I have actually experienced having accounts "hacked" or stolen or whatever before...lost about 200 bucks and steam wouldn't give me the account back. Some random dude whose email I actually had at one point and emailed him trying to figure out who he was but it wasn't anyone I knew...so yeh...

Heres a tip NO ONE SHOULD EVER ASK YOU FOR YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO OVER THE NET! (unless your filling a registration form for something like Tigerdirect, or making a wow account but emails NO)
