Default Course of a new game posted on Onrpg.com

    Hi.

This is a post about, -in my opinion-, happens when a new game is posted on onrpg.com
This is in no way to offend anyone, or anything. This is just to display the lifetime of a game being posted on Onrpg, and maybe improve on it to give constructive critisism when/where needed.

If the image seems small or unreadable, PM me and i will enlarge it abit.

This is completely true and applies to every free mmo that has ever been posted on onrpg, ever. Nice work.

I was checking the forums a year back, and now i see the exact same thing still happening. This is, in my opinion, not an effective way of informing people about good or bad games. So i thought to tell people on how it works the way it is now, and maybe re-think before posting something that may not benefit Onrpg and it's community, so that actual objective info is posted for the users, which are searching for a good or specific MMO.

I like your reason for doing this but, do you really think that this is going to change anything? This is Onrpg for god sakes.

But the real question is, is this necessarily a bad thing?

I have no expectations of changing anything large, medium, or small scale. Rather, i do want this to be brought under the attention of the community. And, as said before, make certain people think twice of clicking the "Submit Reply" button if their post is directly flaming or unrealisticly optimistic.

IF, and i say IF this works, it may result in: -> People trying to find more objective information and posting it in a way that it's realistic -> Less posts being flame or overly hyping -> Less "useless" threads being made -> People more aware of what they post -> Better community base overall.

As stated before, i do not expect that this will make any diffrence on a grand, medium, or small scale. But i do like to see may 1, or 2, members seeing something in this, and start going off the beaten path and posting clean and rational information. Even that is a victory, and well worth this thread.

I was just kidding, i know nothing about darkfall.

I hadn't realized you were taking this so seriously.

There is something about a game getting hyped because it deserves it, and a type of game (the ones which tries to get players by making a sweet talk and only promoting one or two features) continuously hyping even though it has happend countless and countless of times before and getting flamed upon after it's release. This is a pattern that is happening not once, not twice, not 10 times, not 50 times, but an estimate of 100's of times in the course of Onrpg's lifespan. I'm not talking about that a game that looks good By getting good information, like looking at the publisher, what info it gives, INGAME footage, and (if the game exists in another country) what feedback it got from that community that it turns out rotten and in the end is bad, and then negative feedback starts, that's practically unavoidable. What i am talking about is the continuous event of what is described in this thread's first post.

For example: An obscure Korean game publisher reveals that a game is being released with "Gorgeous graphics, and a seemingly endless world full of peril, adventures, and mystery", releasing a rendered (not shot ingame) trailer, then releasing the game full of bugs, technical issues, and translation faults, with a barely exsistant support team, and some community members then bashing the game for not living up to the hype. That is what i am trying to explain.

Even though its an old talked about topic, I have to agree. Its funny and also kinda sad that we seem to fade away like this.

    In my observations:
I think its more impressive in the foreign section this sort of behaviour is well over turned!
    why?
Maybe it has to do with when you play a foreign game.
You get more interested in it, learn more from it.
People who play them are far more inquisitive and want to get more out of the game.
Your placed in this void, where you can't read the language!
Maybe seeing a different language insights us to play it more.
Therefore, a longer time span in the forum is made over those in Free MMORPG section.

Bit like trying to build a model with no plans!
We feel an achievement building the model without the plans, than we do if we had them.

The reality of Free mmorpg section is it adapts to this way,
    New games come forward,
people then want to post about them.
Sometimes its a frenzy, other people post more stuff about nothing.
    clashing with the main threads.
The main threads try hard to prop themselves up,
but with the onslaught of mad new silly posts they die away.
In turn, over a short time span, Everyone then changes direction to the next game!

Only today I had email for 7 million beta and Fallen Earth,
+ I had a free 10 day trial for lich king and LOTRO free week.
You have to prioritise this and melt it all down.
Yes I played wow, no, I don't want to be in the 10 day trial.
I may take a peek at LOTRO to see how its going.
Yes, I'll play in the betas 7 million, and Fallen earth!
Shall I post about or not. today I decided not too.
    That's just how it goes

very true, but the game usually survives a little over a month. About a year later it gets rehyped (especially if there's a re-release).
    Examples are:
RF Online (just look at the first page)
    Tantra Online (a little back)
    Holic Online (a little back)
Freestyle Online (Jeez wait till gamekiss releases it on feb 1st)
Space Cowboy Online (and all its remakes)
    Ryzom
    ROSE
    Rohan (again first page)

and a few more that I can't quite remember right now.
