Default A Typographic Lesson in Typography

Alright girls, it's time to teach you a little about typography and fontification because in all honesty, the fonts most of you use make my eyes bleed.

    Lets Begin.

    What is typography?
Typography is the art and techniques of arranging type, type design, and modifying type glyphs (letters).

Well no shit sherlock, but how is it useful?
Well you see Watson, typography choice is the difference between this:

    and this:

    Eyes sore already? Good.

Alright, you've made my eyes bleed, now heal them.

    Step 1:
    Learn the jargon.
    ------------

This tutorial will teach you the most basic uses and misuses of typography.
Perfect for beginners and experts alike.

Note for sig makers: SERIF FONTS DON'T WORK WITH SIGS.

    Step 2:
    Learn what NOT to do.
    ------------

The most golden of these rules: Never use over 3 different fonts.

    Step 3:
    Arm thyself.
    ------------
http://www.fonts.com/ - Did you seriously not think of this?
http://www.dafont.com/ - Probably one of the best font sites out there, no joke.
http://www.urbanfonts.com/ - Nice little alternative site.

    Step 4:
Look at proper examples of fontification.
    http://ilovetypography.com/2007/09/1...eb-typography/ - 15 Great examples. Need I say more?
http://www.humanized.com/ - I fell in love with the design
http://www.abduzeedo.com - Favorite site, has a little bit of everything.

    Step 5:
    Get your *** in gear.
Typeface is a dying art and if you haven't noticed, the biggest companys are centered around their typeface. Nike, McDonalds, Apple, Samsung etc, etc...
Fonts can either make or break your designs. Learn to use them wisely and you WILL succeed.

I'm not starting anything, I was just wondering what was up with the beginning of your post, Kai.

I've always liked typography, especially kinetic typography.

    Thanks btw ,Serix.
