the picture doesn't look as bad as it is, you have to wear wellington boots to walk in the snow or it'll go up to your trousers. Gritting the roads was useless. Our work have called us to say don't even try coming in. Cannot move our car out of our driveway, and it's a flat road.

what the snow is really like

That's how it is in my area, the wheelie bin lid is the best indicator of how deep it is.

edit : forgot to mention, it is still snowing strong.

i think the problem in this country is that we arent used to snow like say somewhere that has regular heavy snowfall. when it does snow here everything slows down or stops completely.

some pics from out front and back:

most of the sideroads are useless, its hard even walking anywhere too.

    Cingal cam.

Not quite as snowy as Deimos, but, still unusually snowy for the UK.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear.

You shout and no one seems to hear.

That looks like it's pretty much typical levels after a fairly heavy snowfall in Toronto. Then again, like Norrin said, I almost never have to actually walk through it because of Toronto's massive amount of snowplows which have all major roads cleared by morning and then everything else by the day after that.
