Default Game screen crashes but sound still plays.

Basically i'm having this problem with all the games a play, shorty after loading them up they seem to 'crash' but the sound still plays and if they are on windowed mode I can click on IE for example and view that.

Does anyone know any fixes? My computer is way higher than the recommended settings (it happened on Settlers). Also the game also seems to be running fine as if i was playing a rts it would still be getting attacked and my units would finish whatever they were doing. It lasts for about a minute then resumes like normal only to find from about 10secs-15mins later it will happen again.

Edit:Sorry this should have gone in tech.

Nope no sound loop. And I think all my games (WAR, Sacred 2, Lotro, Civilisation IV, The Settlers).
Also just now (and this has happened a few times) I got KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR while playing Lotro.

I have done most of this (apart from the RAM) but as i have only has this PC for a month i'm gonna cry to PC World and do the stupid customer trick so hopefully they can replace it (or for an extra £20 give me a quad core processor).
