Since in order to turn around you have to hold X and push back on the right stick (on the ps3 anyway) and doesn't always work, so you can get pinned in the corner shooting at a wall, takes some time to get used to.
controls on the 360 arent easy as well, i had to get used to it because i couldnt turn around or pull the knife fast enough, and the inventory and passing first aid kits and ammo, require speed, especially when chainsaw guy comes running at you
