Default thinking of getting Warhammer online. opinions plox?

As the title says, im thinking of getting warhammer online. I have played guildwars for an extensive amount of time up until now (finished all campaigns + eotn), and i need something new to take a break from all that title "grinding".

I just want to see what u guys think of the game (please dont post anything subjective unless you've played the game for yourself already) and then decide on whether i should buy the game or not. I use to play WoW (retail)(not re-subscribing anymore) and thought that if i enjoyed WoW, then i should more or less enjoy WAR also.

Thankyou for any "worthwhile" input. (Experienced WAR players please post a comment, or any1 that has tried the game before).

(i know theres a WAR section, but that ended up in the inactive forum sections folder... shit happens)

Get a trial first and see how you feel, pick one up from OnRPG's Warhammer Section, Warhammeralliance.com, etc.

awesome thanks, i've decided to buy it and try it out for the first month and then proceed to subscribe for more months if i like it. There is that free first month right? i only need to buy the game and dont need to get a prepaid card (going to use pre-paid cards, not creditcard) with it until my first month is over?

any australian players here? how is the population on the australian pvp/roleplaying servers? are they active?

Unfortunately when i signed up, it required you to enter a pre-paid card or credit card info, in other words had to buy a prepaid card, and all they had were 3 months worth where i love in canada..

no, you need to have some form of subscription when you start the game, you cant just go straight into the game without using a credit card or prepaid card

The game is fun at first but it gets really boring in the level 20's. Its all about grinding battlegrounds, also the PvE is quite mediocre in my opinion. If you want to play the game with a similar style I would suggest that you wait for Darkfall.

Don't waste your precious money and bandwidth on that game.

Neutral is correct but if you do use credit card info, they don't charge you until your free 30 days is up.

If you use a 7 day trial available online though, you won't need a credit card to activate.

but then you'd have to download the game online which could take a whole lot linger than downloading from the disc but it would be a good way to find out if you can play it at all

darkfall looks absolutely TERRIBLE(gameplay and graphics). i hope i get into the beta as i will not spend 50 on this game without trying it first. i still have some hope as the game has been in dev for nearly a decade, so it has to be good(otherwise...what the hell have they been doing?)......i hope.....

I've buyed WAR 1 month ago and quickly buyed other 2 months for it. The game is being BASHED HARD by everyone, shouting at an EPIC FAIL.

My opinion is that the game needs a lot of tweaking to its end-game content and just a little bit of class balance, but they are releasing a great number of patches to issues those problems.

They are going to implement a HUGE patch 1.2 (february/march) which will introduce two new classes. The first, choppa, was removed after beta because of some tweaking they had to deal with. The second, Slayer, has been introduced from scratch, listening to player feedback.

This patch will be a FREE LIVE expansion called "Call to arms" which will introduce a new rvr system that will tweak the end-game.

In addition, they are going to add (towards june I think) an RvR Dungeon, like DARKNESS FALL from Daoc, called the "land of the dead". It will be a huge open world dungeon with some instanced zone, accessibile since level 25, in which you can be surprised by the other faction. This will add a nice twist to the pve experience, it will introduces new items, new rewards, new public quest, a token system and much more.

In conclusion, if you start now and take the game calmly, you will be introduced to new content regularly and so you will not became bored pretty fast.

    Sorry for my english.

Rerolled alt and in sacellum with 6 players we dropped set for a DoK, a staff for a Shaman and a shield for my BG.

They are going to fix a lot of PVE end-game dungeons an adjust itemization
If Paul sticks with this plan and works it correctly, then in 6 months we may have a very solid game.

Good for PvP, not so good for PvE. Not a bad game overall. Worth it's money if you ask me.
