Phone Help Needed!

This is all legal.
Alright, I went to a Fido booth to get a phone today, all were pretty lame.
The new designs were tiny, and looked like shit.

I was going to get a blackberry but then i'm like "Wtf? What for do I need one? I won't even use all the functions"
So I got a semi-old Samsung SGH-A736.

Opening the main menu, I was disapointed with the stupid ringtones so I decided to put my own music on it. Only to find out that.. it doesn't work.

Say, I want to put a song like "Whitechapel - Messiahbolical" as my ringtone.
How would I go about doing that? It doesn't let me set mp3's as ringtones. Do I need to convert it to a different file? Yes? No?

What you can try is recording it WITH your phone, then setting the voiceclip as your ringtone...

Use an audio file editor to shorten the length of the song you want to use. Then you should be able to use it as a ringtone.

itd be pretty sweet as hell if my phone can just play out the whole song until the caller hangs up instead of ****in looping sounds

lol i used to do that to people with my phone...people just stopped calling me...i prolly should have just answered the phone every once in a while

What does it tell you when you try to set it as ringtone? Not supported content?

Try copying it to the phone (if it's on a memory card), & if that's blacked out set it as alarm tone, which should copy it to the phone.
Then from your Music folder you should be able to set as ringtone.

I have a oldass Samsung myself, so yeah.

full mp3 songs wont work as ringtones if thats what youre trying to do, try finding (google) a ringtone version of it and then download

Don't know about your phone, but mine uses a mp3 file ringtone thing xD but I got a quite old phone though, LG chocolat.

Make your mp3 exerpt and use the Sony DRM Packager to convert to .dm.

Copy the ringtone .dm onto your memory card.

When you find the file in the media menu play the music .dm file and pause it, go to options and your set as menu.

* set as voicecall ringtone
* set as videocall ringtone etc.
