Self Defense
Frankly, I'm sick of getting jumped/robbed..
What do you guys think is the best weapon for self defense?
Would a tazer/stun gun really prevent someone from pulling the trigger of a gun?
Any pointers you would have as to how to get away from someone with a gun up to your stomach would be very helpful!

I've got quite a few actually, I'm pretty gangsta irl lul :3
but they don't help much when I'm walking alone, and I can't afford to pay them as bodyguards (they aren't cheap black guys :P)

I thought of that, but I'm afraid if I pepper spray them I'll just end up getting shot. Me and my friends did a little experiment and pepper spray actually takes a bit before the burning kicks in.

Some of my family members are trained in the arts of ***-kicking, so this automatically makes me qualified to recommend self defense strategies on the intrawebs. It's like I said before, get the extra powerful stuff. ;/ It's a lot more expensive, but you're paying for your safety. Can you really place a price on ...your life?

kung-fu hands down
karate is too flashy
so is taekwondo
get one that actually works and isnt made to just impress
Jeetkunedo is my main style
not flashy like taekwondo or karate
only the real stuff that works
try that flashy tip tap crap and youll get owned
remember tradition = flashy and made to impress emporers = yer toast on the street
all styles are awesome for focus, speed, strength and exercise though
but if u want self defense learn self defense
if you go to a club and they say " join this club and youll have a black belt in x amount of years " leave cuz theyll rush you through and youll get a black belt FAST and know nothing
take yer time and learn the real skills
i have a few close clubs here in canada if u live in ontario i can suggest
do research and youll do well dont listen to others find out for yourself
99% of guys will say they know martial arts or "street fight" and they rarely know anything, most guys just cant admit they know crap about self defense

this isnt tv and there isnt rules out there
anythign in a ring will teach u to fight in a ring.. so on the street youll actually be worse off because youo learn to defend yourself based on a set of rules in a tiny ring... kind of doubt youll run into a guy in a ring lol

youll go into the club and theyll show you a ring
and say here well teach you to defend yourself
but heres the rules...
pointless unless u want to compete
you should be training in your street clothes and not in a ring
i spent 7 years in taekwondo ( on Team Ontario in Canada )
was fun but its a sport not a martial art
good training but NOT self defense
looks cool is all
avoid it, everyone will try to get you into that
krav maga is good but very hard to find an instructor
plus if u move good luck finding another club
go kungfu and u can adapt pretty much anywhere
avoid boxing, kick boxing, thai boxing, street fighting anything in a ring

I'm sure it'll help with my confidence, as well as defense against guys without guns.
As far as the gun thing goes, I think I'm better off just listening to them lol
Plus I'm 19 and its about time I start getting into something other than the internet
I'll look into that as well.
