Haha, sorry the post was so short, I was doing something else at the time.

Nero is a pay program, so...ya know.

The best way I've ever found to compress movies onto a DVD from an image was Roxio Toast. Unfortunately, its a Mac only app

Nero almost always worked for me though. If you can get a hold of it, its pretty simple to use.

Are you burning it for archival or for actual viewing on a DVD player etc? If it's just for archival then yeah Nero would be fine but if you want it to be viewable on a player, you need to convert it to .avi first before burning.

You 100% on that? Because I've burned in that format and had it work...I think. I have a DVD player that I just plug an external drive into now...saves me so much time.

I'm pretty sure, although to be completely honest my DVD player isn't one of the greatest/expansive/newest models so you may be correct. In my case though, I've always had to convert .mkv files first.

    So I am stumped.
Best way to burn it is by Nero, what Oisterboy said. The question is really whether or not your DVD player can play .mkv files as usually they play i think VOB files. If you have dvd to spare, you could try burning the .mkv file directly onto the dvd. If that doesnt work, theres DVDSanta which allows you to convert video files to dvd format. Be warned, encoding and decoding takes A LONG time. Also, it is best not to use your computer for anything else for that duration since cutting down the cpu usage for encoding/decoding could end up screwing up the video/sound sync which means that the voices do not match the pictures.
