Default Aion Korea: New system to prevent excessive gaming

NCsoft to add Fatigue System to Aion.

NCsoft is planning to do a massive update to Aion in February in which a fatigue system called Pneuma from Rest (non-official translation) will be added. The fatigue system in Aion is designed to cut the number of hours players spend in front of their computer screens by reducing experience points and item drop rate in order to prevent gamers from getting addicted to Aion. A similar fatigue system has been adopted in Korean WOW.

According to the system, if the gamer plays Aion for more than 3 consecutive hours, his Pneuma from Rest will start to reduce. When it reaches zero, the experience points obtained by the player as well as his item drop rate will reduce 30%, and in addition during PvP his damage to the opponent will reduce as well. But if the player takes a rest for three hours, his Pneuma from Rest will recover 100% and then everything will return to normal.

WIll this system hit Aion US ?

I like these systems and hope they do hit USA. Some people just can't control themselves and without someone to help them or an automated way they will literally play 12+ hours per day. I don't think it should be as strict in US, but should limit players to 6 hours or so. 6 hours is plenty to complete very difficult tasks and even if its not, you can pick it up tomorrow.

EDIT: I actually took the time to read all of it and for the most part agree with that system. Of course I stand by letting Americans play for 6 hours or so because we're Americans lol.

What if the players play Aion 3hrs then WOW 3 hrs and keep switching till they die..maybe its also a form of making players play little at a time so as they can stay addicted longer....it works two ways i guess>_>

But Lunargeass, it was an asian who died before the american did :3

I find it funny that the only place in the world they have to do that are Korea and other asian countries. The hell is wrong with these people?

Sounds similar to the Stamina system that was put in Atlantica Online. You get X number of stamina a day and once it's all gone XP and drop rate turn to crap. Of course there are ways to get stamina back (1 stamina every 10 mins not fighting and sharing info and such). Sounds like a neat idea would kinda suck though because you are paying a monthly fee to be limited to only 3 hr play periods.

Why was I thinking they should of done this long ago. Anyways, It's good to finally see something going towards more friendly towards casual mmorpgers now. Don't get me wrong not saying it's a 100% good. But still great to know a player can come in and get loads done without worrying about the next guy that's been there 16+ hours grinding to and killing same boss for drop.

Loving what Aion is doing so far, Hopefully they can keep up the good work and bring more great updates in the future.

    *thumbs up*

This same type of system was put in place for WoW in the US in Phase 1 CBT. It was quickly removed and shelved as we don't want such a device taking away the time in game that we paid to utilize.

The thing is, I heard that Aion actually deducts credits based on a hourly basis. Not sure if its true tho.

Couldn't they get sued for this? I mean when you agreed to sign up and pay to play you agreed to being able to play the game fully I'm pretty sure..unless there is something in there about "we can change the terms at any time for any reason etc."

Like I said, Aion Korea deducts credits based on hourly play, if you're online, they count your time, if you're not, they wont.

Something like this. That's what I heard last month.

if that is the case I wouldn't touch it...the company is already striking me as being pretty damn sketchy if they pull stuff like that o.0

For instance, what if the server disconnects your client and your character is still on but you can't get onto it? (common bug in a lot of online games at some point in time) so it clocks you for like an entire day you've just lost an entire days worth of playing.

This is what I found on mmo site:

    1-month card: 19,800 won (approximately 13.7 USD*), 300 hours for 30 days

    3-month card: 47,520 won (approximately 32.9 USD), 900 hours for 90 days

    3-hour card: 3000 won, (approximately 2 USD)

    30-hour card: 12,000 won (approximately 8.3 USD)

But take note its for Korean Aion, not sure if US Aion will adapt the same structure =/

This kind of makes every player equal in terms of who plays most.
But it is unfair to those hardcore gamers. I find this kind of stupid really. to limit players to 3 hours then rest 3 hours means they'll have half the players on at a time basically.
But this also helps the capacity of the server in which there wont be tons and tons of people on.

I like it too. Kids dont need to be playing 24 hrs straight. Go do something else during the cooldown time.
