Most of you remember the game "EA Skate" Which took the skateboarding game market by storm using it's flickit controls, which were unique and fun as much as they were fustrating for trying to pull of accurate tricks, made even -more- fustrating by a simon says esque minigame where you must copy tricks set by AI bots with vastly superior accuracy to you.
Now comes the Sequel, EA skate 2. And, yes - it has improved, but the flimsyness of the flickit is still there, but you cant fault the work they've put into it - I have to say, that the world looks pretty stunning, and it all runs at a -very- smooth framerate, smoother than before. I'm about halfway into the game now and sadly there still seems to be no plot other than "Become the best skater in San Van." Allthough we'll see.
The new sequel includes various new tricks which are actually well implented with the flickit system, these are: Handplants, Footplants and fingerflips as far as I can remember, adding some new tools to pull off some pretty good-looking footage. Though the fingerflips do feel a bit... eh, not worth it, in some sence.
Allso, stalls seem to be easyer to pull off now, and you can move certain objects in the enviroment to peice together a line with your own personal creative flare, allthough I still think there shoud've been some form of map editor, but that's just me.
Character creation seems to have stayed sort of on the same level - with the option to be a female skater this time around. Nothing too specail but a nice touch atleast. In all honesty, if I was going to be looking at a figure from a low perspective from the behind, it'd be a woman, Heh.
All in all, a good game, worth buying but with a steep learning curve, so be prepared.
