Fair, he was only verbaly harrassing your friend and thus the only action you could of taken with that, is notify a teacher of this. Because he did not get physical with you or your friend, you were wrong to punch him. If you had just told someone, he could of been the one getting punished for harrassment, instead he got off because you took things into your own hands.
I am a teacher myself. Your 5 days is alot just for punching someone, but I think you were given so many days because you have done it in the past.
