It's good to see more people will be online. Not that the number of users is a problem or anything.

yea well the lower numbers in cb messed with the tiers of players(low thousands it seemed). lets hope with more players the tiers will work out better. lower tier players were forced to join higher tier games and screw the teams a little. i don't totally agree with the way players are tiered either. the training and getting to the last hall was way too easy. i think the strafe hall should be to get to the second door. if you can't strafe, you should immediately be thrown into the novice door.

Wohoooo! A new wave of nu- newcomers to play with. If it's your first time. Played it during whole CB, it's fun guys trust me, the learning curve is just hard and painful lol ; it's notting like the campfest COD or CS series, no camping, no sniping at long range, no grenade to spam ( lol! ).

if you have never seen or played quake 3 here is a video.

    yea it's an awesome video.

also, don't be frightened by that video if you are new and want to play. those are all done over months of play constantly recording, editing the other parts out. those types of frags aren't the norm(mainly the air rockets), but they do happen.

you're in for a treat, but may want to quit after a few minutes, yes minutes of play if you're getting dominated. stick with it and you will become better. game is REALLY fun when you can frag people consistently.

Lol, well, those were pro long time players. There's a skill matching system, so you won't fall in the same category as those guys. The category will change as you get better at the game. But become good fast! once you can do what they do in this video, you get a rush of adrenaline at every kill! :O ( lol, ok, maybe not, but it's really fun ).

    What did you expect?

I think people set their standards too high for this game. It's a time-passer, that's all. There is absolutely nothing new here. To me, there's nothing wrong with that. They set out to provide free Quake III arena over your browser and succeeded.

It's like someone saying, after they played mario bros. 3 over some rom database that "meh, it's just mario"

No shit it's just mario. That's the point! What did you expect the game to do? Fix you a sandwich? Mail you a funny card with ten dollars in it?

It is what it is. But I don't think it deserves too much negative criticism since we all played this game back in the day and loved it--wasted hours deathmatching in it--and although it doesn't hold a candle to FPS's of today it's still amusing to take a trip down memory lane and go BFG someone up the tailpipe. And it's really sweet that you can bust this out at work without having to install the software.

it may not hold a candle to the graphics(though there is something to be said about flying around a map at 200+ fps) of the fps's of today, but no game since has come even close to the twitch gameplay or speed it has.

it will download about 300mb of files to your computer which will finish before you're even done with the 10 minute training session. it's quake 3 with some weapon tweaks and additions. you can go fullscreen and not even notice it's running from a browser. you can't join quake 3 arena servers, only the servers that id provides through the browser.
