Reputation: 267I call it the Dynasty Warriors argument. ;/ Just because you can get through the whole game mashing one button does not make the depth of the gameplay shallow. It's what the gamer prefers, if they choose to press square, square, circle; square; circle; square; square; square; square; circle to defeat their opponent rather than square, square, square and square; well then that's their choice. ;o
Reputation: 192haha, that is so true
Reputation: 610And Chickendewd has prevailed once again. o/
That, is true. But it's hard coming up with something very, very original nowadays.and the story is not that great either .
I am willing to oversee that, because the game itself is spectacular. It's an RPG-fans dream as far as I'm concerned.
Reputation: 610You should definitely try it, if you're a hardcore RPG fan.
On a different note;
I don't get why people are crying about the graphic bug, I barely payed any attention to it when i played it.
It's only there if you actually LOOK for it.
(The bug is, that the enviroments etc. start out as low-res for a few seconds everytime you zone somewhere, then become hi-res)
Reputation: 16I like the demo very much except when things gets a little confusing like when they tell me to press RB for a quick time event, btw are there any recent rpgs with good graphic skill animation and style like the FF series. I'm not talking about MassEffect or Fallout3.
Reputation: 610That's a bug? Well I find it pretty useful I guess. My comp sucks bawls so starting it low-res for a few helps me. But it's not all that annoying, I actually thought it did that cause my comp sucked. Anyways, the game is pretty good, I like what I see from the demo. It took a bit to actually understand the system but after I'm really loving it. Sad it ended fast, I got to Battle Rank 16 and went to the town then it ended. ;[

Reputation: 610Now that you mention it.. I didn't think it was that all terrible, to be honest.
I have forgotten the story though, but Balthier made it worthwhile.
Sakaguchi really is amazing, and I hope Mistwalker releases something truly epic. Afterall, they have both Sakaguchi and Nobou, what more can you ask of?
(Oh and, FF9 for life. <3)
Reputation: 38I'm still mad at square tho and CC was the last straw for methey had the opportunity of making a truly epic remake ala FFIV, but all they did was a stupid shitty port

Reputation: 372No it doesn't. Depth is defined by amount of possibilities.. Just because you can beat a game mashing a button, doesn't mean you have to, and doesn't change the fact that there is still other more complex and possibly more rewarding ways of doing it.
You might also argue that the fact that you can play it the way you want(both button mashing, and otherwise) means it has even more depth because it gives even more options to the player.

Anyways,
FF7 haters need to stop trying so damn hard to be all different and shit just because FF7 is generally thought to be the best in the series and has shit-loads of fanboys. No matter how many shitty spin-off's they make of this game, and no matter how many ******ed fanboys you have to deal with, doesn't change the fact that the game was revolutionairy in pretty much every aspect for its time. If you fail to see that, you're a fanboy yourself.
Pretty much every FF game since FF1 has had something different to bring to the table(although FF1-5, arguably have more in common) and they have a high standard in comparison to a lot of the garbage console RPG's that have been made over the times(even compared to higher standard rpg's as well).
What FF game is the "best" will always be a matter of opinion, but in comparison the the norm of "jrpg's", there isn't even a point in arguing the general quality of these games. To believe that it's unreasonable, or unjust, that these games have the fanbases they have, and the scores they have recieved world-wide, is naive. To argue that any of these outright suck, is just petty fanboyness and a good dose of bias.
Even FF12 which IMO failed as a FF game due to it having removed what felt like 90% of the things that make the concept of FF in the first place - was still a good game regardless. People need to chill, and stop being so damn polarized and biased.

well from the look of the screens it seems very well done !
ok screenshots on official pages often lie but still ....
i am a more or less hardcore rpg fan, mostly because i want an interesting story but well sometime in some games the fights are little bit fun as well.
I think i am gonna load the game when its released and if its really good like i play one hour of it without it getting tireing to much i am gonna buy it !
Reputation: 6The only reason why you can beat the game by mashing square is because SE wanted Americans to enjoy the fun aswell, in depth battle systems requires their brain to function over 50 percent which they are incapable of doing.
Why all the hate on ff7? its funny how people complain ff7 is just generic and the same old shit when they complain on how ff12 is so different and such. Bloody hooligans.
