Default What does Rock have to do with Satan?

Like Heavy Metal or something. What does it have to do with him or any Demon for that matter?

And what things are songs from some band like NightWish are related to or revolve around? If it's a type of Goth music, what is Goth, and what does it have anything to do with it?

    Ugh

Back in the 60's old people started calling rock music "satans" music because it was different. They were used to slow crap with trombones and trumpets. But just because something changed, a group of old farts with nothing better to do than keep kids from having fun started saying it was satans muisc.

    The end.

Many think metal is satan because the sound scares them, but some bands are satanic but they dont really mean it in a way.

Specifically because any music containing a tritone is considered unholy.

Back in the 50's and 60's sex drugs and rock and roll were the same thing.

Yeah, but now, usually rockers are involved with sex and drugs.

lol thanks for telling me and helping me understand. I've been thinking of and listening to "the devil's music" in my head all day.

It made me think of that movie commercial where that guy plays that song that goes in one part "Walk hard. Hard", and then that old preacher with a bible in his hand yells "It's the devil's music!" And then that guy beside him punches him out.

The second Black Sabbath first struck the tritone, it has been considered "devil's music" by close-minded stereotypical soccer moms.

No. You see, the Satanic association with the tri-tone stems from the Middle Ages, whereby as the tri-tone has a really evil sound to it, people back then used to think it was summoning the devil or evil spirits and whatnot.

In modern times, there were people around in the '60s and '70s who had never heard of anything like Black Sabbath or Blue Cheer or any of those really heavy guys. 'Heavy Metal' back then was pretty much just Led Zeppelin. On top of that, when Sabbath first started out they played blues-rock under a different name which escapes me at the moment.

They then changed their name to Black Sabbath, which they took from a horror movie that was playing around that time, and began to incorporate dark lyrics into their music; i.e. horror and occult-type stuff, as well as down-tuning their guitars to make them sound heavier as well as incorporating said tri-tone into their music. Not just that, but their stage shows began to feature giant crosses and other such things. Essentially, they wanted to create the musical equivalent of horror movies. And they did.

Later on, as more 'heavy metal' bands began to surface, a band named Venom made their way into the public's eye and everything before them immediately looked harmless. These guys became very influential in the metal community, particularly with their first two albums "Welcome to Hell" and "Black Metal." Their lyrics often contained Satanic references and the members took on stage names like Jesus Christ and Abaddon (Abaddon meaning 'depths of hell') and the Satanic image of metal was from then on pretty much set in stone.
