according to my vast knowledge of meteorology and weatherology (all from the film Twister) dont you always get hail and freak weather before a tornado?

Umm no strange weather i can think of. just usual thunderstorms and occasional tornado depending on the season.

Rained all day today. after being Warm and sunny for 2 weeks. made me sad

I think the worst storm I've ever been alive for was White Juan in '04. It dropped 94-100 cm of snow where I live in Canada. xD I was outside through part of it, though. A few 18-wheeler trucks were turned on their side length ways across the highway.

It seems to be fine here (Southern Ontario) just above freezing.

My mother recalled a time when there was a small tornado in Toronto when she was a girl. It uprooted a tree and brought it into an above ground pool 2 doors over.

There was also a large ice storm of January 1998, but we mostly got the tail end of it.
