quit the holier than thou attitude.

It's completely obvious the person sueing just wants money. Just like pretty much every other lawsuit out there.

I could right now decide to sue the author of Eragon, saying that I thought of the idea first, but then I'd be lieing, wouldn't I?

Oh right.."LOL I WANT FREE MONEY"
I would usually agree in a case like this but she stated that she couldn't find the time to read it. I don't have kids and when I was going school and working I could hardly find time to game let alone read. Hell I'm just working now and it's hard to find time to game or do any hobby. Besides not all of these cases are false. I don't see why she would want to sue over such a dull story anyway. She could have picked a better more interesting story that made more money if she wanted to.

But like she might had wrote the story in college but I mean, she didn't copywrite it.

Bingo so she will more than likely lose. Even if she has proof it's hard to win a case without a copywrite or some way to date it. Also it's not like she can't think up another story if she can find the time.

he has that Keanu Reeves look that some(most in this case)girls like, the weird mysterious physcopathic look,i guess thats attractive to them =/

and why the hell are the already working on new moon? they just released the twillight DvD....most sequals take a year or two to be released

and in the pics that killhanna posted,is that bella? or something like that,i think thats her name.

Cause she looked waaayyyy hotter in the movie,or atlease the pics ive seen of the movie

i think the only reason they picked him for the role is cause hes SOOOOO damn white, and look at the bottom left picture,he has a funny shaped head, and why is he smiling? hes all alone...

I agree, wished they would have taken their time.

The girl in the pictures is Bella, played by Kristen Stewert.

Robert (Edward) is known for his mysterious type vibe.

He is still single and looking??

Also....MORE OF PICTURES OF THE NEW MOON SET!!33

You don't need to write a little c in a circle to copyright something. It's yours purely by the fact that it's yours. If you've got it written down and it can be dated (as is says in the article that it was written, submitted and marked in secondary school) then it does fall under copyright law.

lol, I remember this debate. It had something to do with tractors and mp3's if I'm not much mistaken?

Anyways, I lol'ed at this part:
Meyer who claims the premise for her popular vampire series came to her in a dream in June of 2003. Just three short months later she had completed the entire novel with very little to no previous writing experience.
That had to be one long, coherent and consistant dream...
The part about little to no previous writing experience doesn't really come as a shock though. From what I've gathered having read an excerpt, these books are nothing but run-of-the-mill erotic stories you'd expect comming from some site's fanfic-section.

Although I don't want to call any work of "art" utter crap since I usually think along the lines of "the eye that sees", there are limits....

If someone else wrote the books, or wrote something very similar, then it's her work. It doesn't matter if she registered for copyright or not, because she wrote it.

She might not be in the most desirable position leagaly, but she's got a damn good argument.

I mean, I'm a writer here, and I submit work all the time. I don't go and register it anywhere. If someone copies it and sells it for millions, I'd sue them, since the work is mine. I'd have a good record that I wrote it, so I'd get the money.

Simple. I don't know why you think it's 'kinda wrong' that she could win the lawsuit if the Twilight author stole all of her work. That seems 'kinda right' to me.

Like I said the Twilight author will win. She has all the money in the world for a counter lawsuit. Like I said, it needs a copyright in order for it to have any legal standing. They were roommates were they not? Then the Twilight author can easily say that it was her roommate that stole her work because well, there is not going to be any evidence because the stories weren't publish.
How does anyone know that the work submitted by the Twilight author's roommate wasn't copied off the Twilight author? Wheres the proof? She just submitted it in a College essay but they were roommates. They could easily copied off each other.

And the lawsuit is about idea infringement....
No way is the person going to win the lawsuit.

Because reading Twilight is essentially like watching a chick flick.

It being a book doesn't make it clever or smart. It makes lazy people and dumb people feel smart.

Like Harry Potter books and Coldplay albums.

Seriously, you either need to read more, or stop by the wikipedia article on reasoning.

    This guy said it perfectly:
