Started last night, when I try to run a Google Video, the website freezes, then FireFox, then I try to minimize it using the tool bar (the one with the start button), but then the tool bar freezes, so some how I can still click start, so I do, and then the start menu and button freezes, I try windows task manager, but it doesn't show up, and if it does, it usually also freezes before I can end firefox, and then even Desktop freezes, and bam. My entire computer is locked up, and I have to turn it off and turn it back on. I've had to do that atleast 10 times already.
My computer has also been slow lately.
Now, this has been happening possibly for a long time, but I only remember it happening some weeks ago. I assume it can happen at any time on any page, but I only recall it happening when I try to watch videos on Game Trailers. At random and sometimes when I try to watch a certain section of a video, Firefox freezes for a few seconds, and then the screen slowly peels away, and then Firefox shuts down, and I get a error message "apologizing about how it crashed", and it gives me the option to restart Firefox or just close that window.
My mom says that it might be because "my comp doesn't have enough memory to do everything, and that I might have to clean up and delete some programs", but it isn't the first time she's said that.
I think/hope it's a virus. Hope it's serious enough, because I need a new comp and I'm tired of taking care of and reviving this old piece of shit if all it's gonna do is not be able to handle things well enough, **** up all over again, and get formatted again just so I can lose all of my things and go through the cycle all over again. My parents want to keep this comp (my dad does kinda, but sometimes he also thinks it's a piece of shit and talks about trying to replace it, but I doubt we will be able to finance it, since he couldn't before), but I think it's a gang *****, ***** slapped, messed up, broken down heap of plastic and metal shit that I don't like, and needs to go.
So, what would be the cause of something like this? Does it sound familiar?
