How would I go about finding a long lost relative?

This serves great importance to me and my father if we could find information about his grandfather who died in the second world war. I tried to find things on google, however it only shows me results for Canada, not Europe. When I search for that, It gives me pointless results. Anyone mind helping?

Find out what Regiment he was in, pretty easy to go from there, though why you'd want to find a zombie is beyond me

It's just important to my father. There are records of the soldiers that died and their actions. Apparently, one of his friends found the same.
