thinking about it it probably doesnt matter much if any western country still has a draft or compulsory military service for X amount of years.
there hasnt been a war worthy of draft since the second world war, and there isnt likely to be another.
(excluded vietnam since it wasnt a case of total war and im pretty sure lots of people would be up in arms if conscription was introduced under similar circumstances)
