Default Guys I feel somewhat failed.

I'm in all great classes that will keep me up and each giving me 2 credits each session. But I just honestly FAIL at math. Even if I get the material I have a hard time remembering formulas etc, especially when I have to remember crap from last semester/chapter to go into this chapter.

So I decided to take regular math classes. I already knew I wasn't going to get the teachers approval to go on in the higher graded 2 credit math classes but I just feel a little lower than the rate. I've been told it won't effect me in any serious way, in fact after calculating the points, I'll be able to leave High school at 11th instead of 12th if I wanted. But the thing about it is that these classes just "look" better. I don't know. I mean have you ever seen chocolate but then you're like "oh I can't eat that, or I'm lactose intolerant, I'll get sick" so you don't do it and go with the lower less positive direction of sweets? yeah.

Anyways, I'm just venting and since I doubt you want to read that wall o' text of mine so.

ITT- I suck at math, decide to go into normal math courses.

Have you guys ever had to do anything similar?

I tried to get out of Honors Physics this year, I called the teacher a ******** and told her to stop talking to me in her failed english.

    In front of the principal.

I'm still stuck in the class and I got a 1 day detention >.>

Latin and History. two of my most hated subjects and I fail at them.

I take all AP courses for my other classes but Latin and History I'm taking honors. ._. I'm switching to French next year and surprisingly I made it into AP History. I'm taking the AP History course as it would look better even if I fail the class, but Latin I can't take it. I have a lot of things to do so I can't focus it all on Latin.

I have the same problem as you Merka,

math is just impossible to grasp. im struggling along in academic because i cannot change courses now, and i just want to pass.

Every other course i get 80% and up, but Mathmatics is just too hard.

My teacher always says there 3 types of kids: Math, Science, and English.

I dropped AP Calculus because I was just like f-ck it, I'm not working this hard when I'm way past the math credits I need to graduate.
It's just sitting in a classroom and "writing notes" AKA staring off at the board that I can't stand.
I used to be a math and english person, pretty well rounded in all subjects, smart Asian girl. Never struggled with concepts & stuff.
I'm just a terrible-average student now because I've stopped paying attention in my classes. It's so tiring.

I'm currently border-line failing in AP Calculus.
I've always had straight As in all my Math classes prior to this.

Haha, I'm like exact opposite of you guys. I don't love math, but it's understandable for me. I'm taking pre-calculus and I'm only a sophomore in highschool. However, English freakin sucks! It's like here's a bunch of rules to remember, but even though you know them it doesn't matter, they don't work 1/2 the time, anyway.

AP calculus kicked my ***. I had all A's except for the D I got in that class. Luckily, they let me drop it. I'm in probability & statistics now, which is fun and seems to have a practical use in the future. Calculus sucks.

take how important education is to your parents/school authorities

    divide it by fifty

thats how important it is in real life

sure you hear a bunch of crap every day about so and so who didnt finish highschool and whatever

sure everyday on the internet you hear about some guy with a 5.0 and taking a shite load of extra classes

its all a smoke screen man. it all matters for shit.

the reason that it gets played up so much is because everyone is a sucker and is buying into the media shitstorm.. "oooh you gotta be smart or you are ****ed" "listen X amount of kids get Y grades and if you dont then you are finished"

its a pile of shite which is right next to the Hope Merchants bullcrap (tv ads and such "buy this or nobody will like you")

    basically...

not everyone in the world can be lawyers and doctors and supreme court judges

but they sell you the deal, they sell you the "check out this kid who became a supreme court judge" "look at this kid who became counterstrike world champ" "look at this kid who took his college majors at 8 years old"

they sell you this shit to make you think that you personally have the one in a trillion chance that these people had

bottom line is it doesnt count for crap, but the ultimate MEGA IRONY is that you dont REALISE until you are TOO OLD to do anything about it

    take my (awesome) advice.

stop worrying, do your best, try as hard as you can, BUT plan for failure.

and IF (IF) you fail, dont worry about it man, you gave it your best shot.

dont listen to all these dickheads saying "if you want a good life you need X, Y and Z"

dont listen to all the people who are so full of knowledge, because most of the time those people are just sore about the chances THEY missed and are just trying to do you in whilst trying to gather the scraps of their lives.

tl;dr dont worry too much about higschool and what your "superiors" (parents/teachers/career adivsors) are telling you

age = wisdom, as everybody knows

    BUT

    age =/= common sense

    age = common ignorance

Yeah I dropped out of 'high school' over here. Was in detention 3 times a week for never working and stopped turning up half-way through my GCSE year.

Now I run a bar and write about computer games.

    Win?

I failed math last year. :\ All because I didn't like the math teacher I refused to do most of the work. I'm paying for my stupidity now though.

    i have AP us history
if u get less than an 80 for a report card grade, the teacher berates you and criticizes you on everything until u switch out to regulars (theres no pre-AP) with the stupid people.
my class started out with 30+ people (2 ppl per table)
now its way less, theres 1 person per table with a couple empty tables

no offense with this but i guess i just dont have the mindset to have the conversation with a friend thats says "i work at a hospital and make 200k a year, what did you do again?" and i have to reply "oh, i make drinks... and games..."

It's kind of hard to fail an ACAD Math class as long as you pay attention and study when neeeded. If you can't do that, then you should have joined Foundations or something lol. We don't have AP here(canada sucks) but we have IB.(AP w/ 100 required CAS hours)

I know someone who made it into the Marquise Who is Who before completing the doctorate.

    Finished University with only A's on the diploma though;

That's not in ones hands however, either happens or it doesn't.

Life isn't a ****ing Hollywood movie for everyone.
If it's not for you, get used to it.

Currently I'm in honors everything as a freshman, and it's alright.
I've never gotten a C or lower on report cards/progress reports, but I have dipped down there once or twice from a big test or project. Been able to bring it back up every time. Geometry was easy, but I did terrible on some parts like proofs, and the final as well. I'm taking Algebra II H and Trig&adv. topics H next year. Yay me.
Science was cake, never got below a 92.
American Studies is alright, but I don't really like the teacher. She thinks that a C is an average grade, and that if you get an A, the work is too easy. Everybody in my class gawked, and most have a B. B+ for me.
English is cake, and it's one of the few fun classes I have. The only reason I have a B+ is because the teacher writes out our rubrics really weird; on three occasions I got a C because I didn't understand the instructions. One time I was sick from class with an allergic reaction to a Tetanus shot, and that day happened to be the day she told us a MAJOR detail on a project. Needless to say, I lost points because of something I didn't know about.
Gym/health has always been easy. Sex is bad at your age, if you're going to do sex use a condom, blah blah blah. Then you run around and lift weights.
Commercial arts is a blast; it's basically hanging out in the graphics section of OnRPG all day and making some cake-easy stuff.
French II was alright; I'm taking French III next year.

Edit: Kudos to me; this is probably my longest post ever on this account.

    You sir.

Are not a visionary, in fact you are an idiot. Please take your negativity and stupid comments and get out.

Seriously. I appreciate the fact that you put in your friend got into a quite cozy job but that last part was a little unneeded.

That or I'm just pissy at the moment.

Edit- Yeah I'm just pissy. sorry about that.

All your "accomplishments" during high school years are useless. When you get to college they won't look at your grades, let alone when you finish it. You should only have AVERAGE grades so you can get accepted to college you like but that's about it. The only thing you should pick up from high school is good manners and life lessons such as don't be an arrogant prick.

Besides that, you can be proclaimed a Demigod of your high school but the world doesn't care, many people don't see this. They study and study and study, and at the end it all remains behind them, 4 years of your life wasted when you could have done something better (not exactly not going to school, just learning 24/7).

I also don't understand IB/AP kids....They walk around with their math books, graphing calculators, and turn on the calculator whenever they get a chance, and read a book when they should talk to a girl. I mean come on.

passing an AP exam gives you college credit
college credit - hundreds of dollars worth

alot of kids in AP have gfs, its not like its only for geniuses, i mean cmon, football players take AP

idk what IB is for, they split the programs between schools. if u wanna take AP, u come to my school, if u wanna take IB, u go to a diff school

That's true, but if you don't pass the exam you're screwed then. Besides that, I think it's better to stay in college as long as you can because you learn more things. If you finish your college in 3 years, not only have you rushed the material but the classes you skipped due to your AP could have taught you a lot more than they did in HS.

im taking nursing, which takes 4 years to complete
the first 2 years consist of pre-requisites, which is a fancy word for (shit you dont really need to be a nurse, but well make you pay money and 2 years of your life to learn it anyway)
this includes classes like world history, statistics, english, and fine arts

with enough AP credits, you can basically skip a year of prerequisites and save ALOT of money (depending on where you are going)

even if you dont pass the exam, the fact that you took the class looks good on transcripts
although because i live in texas, and im in the top 10% of my class, i get accepted into any public college i want.
