I don't think a single WoW Fanboy has posted in the thread yet. Also, Jasi is definitely not a WoW Fanboy even if he gets paid to blog about them for the most part.

I am a Blizzard Fanboy, so I will accept that slap.

i would say world of warcraft has to be one of the most generic mmorpgs out their, but blizzard markets the product right. Honestly do you ever see any other mmorpg out their with commercials, and big advertising? i don't think so. Also what makes WoW so popular is, you don't need a fancy computer to run it. Most people don't have a souped up computer. Blizzards support is top notch as well. World of Warcraft also caters to noobs, it's one of the easiest mmorpgs ever made. Vast majority of people like easy. Their is no stopping Blizzard, they will be the kings of the mmorpg scene for a long time.

Me personally i think WoW is alright i can't knock it. It does get extremely boring at times. I play on and off i got 3 80's and 1 80 DK. I prefer Guild Wars for the PVP alone, it requires true skill to play.

I stopped reading after this. It is clear this guy has no idea what he's talking about. In fact, not only is WAR not copying WoW, it's trying to do the opposite (bring world PvP back, skill based combat, RvR, etc.). If anything, WoW is copying WAR with its new siege garbage.

The only thing all other mmorpgs are doing is trying to get on the same level as WoW (which is impossible right now), but that is NOT copying. That's just business.
Sorry Attila, but I have to completely disagree with you on WAR not copying WoW. Take a look at DAoC and then look at WAR. Everything that DAoC had they switched around and made it more like WoW in order to feed casual players (IE: The WoW Populace). You have limited time Scenario's (Battlegrounds), easy-mode sieges, constant instancing, faster paced less strategic combat, and BFO's (Think Towers in WoW). Hell, they even added a Medallion/Crest system (Badges, Tokens, etc) system like the one in WoW so people will quit whining about random drops so they can get loot.

Plus, when it comes to roaming ORvR comparing WAR to WoW is no different. It's still your basic gear/skill vs gear/skill and they both play almost exactly the same. However, the only combat difference to me is WoW is more CC based and WAR is more DPS based. However, they are still mainly just DPS trains on called targets. When you cite 5 well geared and skilled WAR players can take out 15 undergeared people... The same can be said for WoW.

This is in no way a defense of WoW, but a statement that WAR is a lot like WoW and it was done on purpose by EA/Mythic. Both games require skill to play, but they don't really have much difference between the needed skill to do well.

The only real difference is the foundation that WoW was designed as a PvE-centric game and WAR was designed as a PvP-centric game. Neither one however has gotten them done quite right in PvP or PvE.
