Me and my friend would like to try WAR
I want to know if there is still a good amount of players playing, and if yes, where can I get server stats
Also, should we try it or it sucks?

It's a game with good concept, but ended up rather bland.
Unless you have plenty of time and money to burn, don't bother. It's not a terrible game, but you're not really missing out on much either way.
Population is still decent after they closed/merged alot of servers. As of now, there are no accurate server population/stats, or at least none that I know of.
Reputation: 49there is still quite a lot of players around,it lost subs at a dramatic rate but i think its more or less stable now. i recommend Phoenix Throne server for massive population
for me it sucked, too much stress in their bland PvE, awful PvP based on numbers, pitiful RvR mechanics, terrible endgame focused on idiotic PvE ad nauseam, constant overnerfing/overbuffing of classes...but im an ex-DaoC. any ex-DaoC will tell you the same.
if you are the type of WoW player, you might like it a lot tho.

Reputation: 33Actually its still very populated. I started on a /new/ server and it has quite a big population. The game is focused on pvp rather than pve. By evidence that exp gain and rewards are greater in the pvp area than the pve although it has public quests which make pve really fun. IT is very focused on group play as well, though you can solo with the right setup and location.
Personally I enjoy it because I can do scenario's and Open realm versus realm and gain alot rather than having to grind pve monsters all day for half of that.
If you'd like to try it I'll gladly send you a buddy invite to join on my server on chaos side and help you get stronger with my shaman. I play on Gorfang and rarely is it hard to find a 20 vs 20 or more orvr battle. Even at low levels of 5 or so you can find large oRVR battles going on for keeps and lands.
Greatest PvP/RvR game out there. Those who say otherwise have either never tried WoW, or are PvEers.
Reputation: 21Warhammer Online is probably my favorite PvP/RvR game ever made.
Reputation: 49becouse im a PvPer and not PvEer, i wouldnt touch WAR again, not even with a ten foot pole
theres a limit to the undefended keeps i can take, the undefended BOs i can cap, the stupidly easy LV runs i can stand and the horribly boring city sieges i can attend to make an obnoxiously stupid PQ for hours long with people all around me switching instances to never fight back and farm alone...
not to even talking about how many times i can reroll (from chosen to sorc to WE to DoK) just to see how Mythic deem my class overpowered yet again and beat it into the most disheartening uselessness, and with it all the hard work of leveling/gearing up
and the contribution system...oh lawl....

Reputation: 33Actually. I've played wow. its pvp is very lacking, full of people just logging in and sitting there to gain honor to buy shit with and its basically just sit, farm, farm those dumb *** dungeons and pretty much thats it. End game is farm farm farm.
At least with war you can do shit, get exp for it and play in a group. Its your own fault if you run alone and get *****. So far the experience has been pretty good on my end and I'm often with a crowd of 15+ running through orvr and scenarios. Win or lose, I enjoy the play.
I'd go back to DAoC if the remaining players weren't all mainly playing on the TOA Devon Cluster. TOA can suck my nuts.
Reputation: 882looks like someone missed a good guild that actually coordinate and make tactics on vent.. im in a great guild with any gender/ageand it makes things 100x more fun really. i dunno what server u been playing on arc but theres no PvE going on in ORVR areas in the server i play.
the only issue i got with it is my fps during 100+ vs 100+ man zerg. beside that its still the best mmorpg i know on PvP area. PvE could be a little better i guess but then again.. im not complaining.
Reputation: 49there was a time when i tot exactly the same as you. i was all like "massive battles ,chaos and fire ,epic fights yeah yeah yeah !!"
then i realized how lame and boring that is. its like playing a 100 vs 100 football match...just awful and void of any real competition or need of skill, grab the ball when its close to you, kick it hard anywhere...if you werent there someone else would be, if you absolutly suck someone else will do your job, nobody notices you are there and noone notices you leave etc etc etc
thats the problem with WAR. that kind of braindead mayhem is indeed fun and dandy...for a few months. then you realize that kind of gameplay is totally opposite to the idea of PvP, and its the least gratificating shit ever.
