Should i make any changes in the hardware?
Well depends on how much you're spending, and what you already own.

Even with HT turned off, the i7 still outperforms a C2Q....

The Core i7 is also extremely expensive.

Quad is still a waste of money at this stage of the game. Maybe in a year they'll be worth buying.

    I second this.

A good Dualcore is still enough to run all the games smoothly. A good dualcore for example is the Intel E7200 for a rough 100$

What the hell are you smoking..?!:

    Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.66GHZ Bloomfield 8MB LGA1366 4.8GT/S: $363.99

    Intel Core i7 940 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.93GHZ Bloomfield 8MB LGA1366 4.8GT/S: $754.99

Won't put the 965 price, because that one is expensive!

2GB's of RAM on Vista? I don't see how you run anything worth a shit.

its doable but the fps increase with 4gbs installed is really noticeable

lol most games don't fully utilize 2 cores let alone 4,I would just save my beans and get an i7.

E8400 - E8500 is your best bet if your on a cash restricted diet,GA-EP45-UD3P is nice cheap board and ram they practically give away.

Can easily OC the E8400 to 4ghz on that board.

To me, that doesn't count...because it was OC'd; if they beat Intel to let's say 4GHz without OC'ing then that'll be something.

overclocking even needed to have smooth gameplay if you have near-top of the line processors and graphics cards and other parts? unless you are a graphics ***** and plan to play Crysis on the ultra maximum settings, I don't think its even needed to overclock right?

and if i remember, overclocking constantly will permanently crack your computer.
