Dead Rising tips?

i borrowed dead rising on 360 from a friend, lvl 11 atm but still having a hard time

you know those convicts? no matter how many time you kill em, they keep coming back (unlike the other psycho's)
they keep shooting me, driving over me and this gives me practicaly no chance to escape (only if im very lucky)

is there a way to easily dispatch of them? (btw haven't been to curtis his gunstore so going to grab guns there is not an option atm)

also at night, are there other sources of light (indoors) then just those light sabers?

other tips are also welcome

btw you dont happen to know where the maintenance key can be found down there do you?

Same place as that SMG in the tunnels, there's quite a few SMG's in the mall all over the place BTW but i cannot remember directions to get them off the top of my head - for example there's one tucked on top of the playground in the roller coaster area but you need to use zombie ride to jump up there.

By the way i don't suggest running around the tunnels with the weaker car's too far from places where you can get a new one. Although i imagine if you have a small chainsaw you should probably survive a breakdown. ^.^
