Last month, Ubisoft told players that the game servers for long-running MMO, Shadowbane, will be shut down permanently from 1 May 2009. However, at the present, Shadowbane was still alive.
A Shadowbane developer has posted on the forums to inform players that the closure date has been extended a further two months to allow players to tie up any loose ends, and so that a few special events can take place.
This has resulted in a mixed reaction from players, as many had given away valuable items or performed irreversible actions in preparation for leaving the game.Shadowbane Farewell Extended!
Shadowbane developer: "Following our recent news, the support and enthusiasm the community has shown for Shadowbane has led to an extension of the closure date to July 1, 2009. This should allow the community enough time to play out its final days appropriately. We are looking into various options to make these final days as fun as possible!".
According to one source, Aeria Games, one American game publisher, intended to take over Shadowbane and keep it going.
