Default Binaural beats - My experience

This is NOT a drug related topic. This is my experience while listening to binaural beats, and the effects that they have on your brain waves.

Binaural beats or binaural tones are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, the perception of which arises in the brain independent of physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaural_beats

The conclusion I've come to on the effectiveness of these sound waves at changing your body's state and perspective is that, in the proper mind set, it can work. I believe that the research is correct and that these waves are able to modify your state of awareness with a little bit of help from you.

I turned off all of the lights, laid back in bed, and put my headphones on. At first, the sound is very annoying and very harsh. You get used to it very quickly and it actually becomes something entirely different. I found that the most effective way to embrace the beats was to focus my entire attention on one of the sounds being played. When I did this, my body began slightly reacting to the beat, and other sounds were heard.

During a certain track by the name of "LSD" (An attempt to convince people to purchase it, nothing else) I had small muscle spasms throughout my body. My right jaw would twitch often, as would my right thigh. All of the spasms were on the right side of my body. There were no visual hallucinations. Aural hallucinations did happen, they were not just sounds added to the track. I listened to each track several times to test that. After removing the headphones, I noticed that my hearing was very distorted. The sound of my air conditioner was exactly like that of an alien starship in a movie.

The most effective tracks are the relaxation ones, or ones that start relaxing and eventually become stimulating. Tracks named "speed" and "crack" were mostly just annoying. They did make your body tense up with the intensity of the sound, however. Tracks like "LSD" "Marijuana" and "The Hand of God" can be enjoyable. "LSD" for example, at around 28 minutes, becomes extremely intense. My body actually recoiled when this noise began and it melt as if my mind was blown for a moment. I did notice that I was incapable of having a long thought while this was going on. This may be an effect of having a loud, obnoxious tone going in your ear for 30 minutes.

In conclusion, I welcome binaural beats to my life as a method of relaxation and a test in meditation. They are an excellent way to test your ability to focus your attention on a single thing and clear your mind from all outside stimuli. I believe that they are an effective way of causing a placebo effect in your body when coupled with an open mindset and the right environment. It takes some practice but after a few minutes I had no problem getting a body response to them.

And mods, lock this if you will, but I don't believe that listening to sound waves is considered a drug. Scientists, specifically neurophysiologists have began experimenting with them for therapeutic and scientific usage. I'm treating this as a science experiment, not a means to get 'TOTALLY WASTED BRO~!" It is DEFINITELY not that.

There is a thread below you that is locked with links to some youtube videos. I don't feel like they work very well because of the quality of the sound, but you can try there. You can also try googling.

Indeed, during my days delving into the power of the mind, I found that using I-D was very effective at putting my body into a state of total awareness. Many people that naturally put themselves into that state to astral project spit on I-D and call it a crutch that after use makes you rely on it as opposed to your own skills to enter such a state.

I might just have to get back into it now o:

    Nice Saint!

I think I'll try this now.

    EDIT:
Did you use that I-Doser thing? I tried Youtube, but it doesn't really work. Still interested though...
