It's not Hollywood, it's sheep. People generally have to be told what to like, and be pointed in the direction of said things.
Ryan Reynolds has been into Deadpool for ages, he's wanted to play him in a movie since I was in Secondary school, which was around the time the first Spider-Man movie came out.
I don't necessarily mind the whole "Hollywood has introduced me to something." part of it, but it's the creation of threads that bothers me. As if we all needed to be made aware of a certain character, because we couldn't have found out on our own.
I've been reading comics since I was about five or six, and I remember actually buying issue #98 of The New Mutants back in 1991, where he made his debut. So it just irks me that everyone is now like "Hey! Look at this cool new character!".

I didn't find out about Deadpool through the movie, I found it through you.
I just hope they use the regular costume in the movie.

now i haz to find a new one you won't know about so i can be special again.
I don't actually recall saying that people had to stop liking him, that it was a secret or that I was special for liking him.
PRETTY sure I just said it annoys me when people bandwagon things.
Besides, Deadpool isn't a superhero. He's an anti-hero mercenary.
At least get it right if you're gonna flame in leetspeek. Cos now you just look silly, you silly Zombie. With your skin.
