    Default Buying a new computer

Hello people, i am buying a new computer and i am looking for some advice on what i should buy. I have a laptop computer at the moment and the battery is coming to its usable life and its been 2 years so i think i should buy a new computer. This time around i want a desktop computer as i am looking to play games along with an organised college portfolio kept in order

I am looking to spend around £600 on the computer, leaving whatever i want to spend on the monitor and mouse and everything.

In the future the only game i am planning on buying and playing is Star wars the old republic, but for the current i will only be playing mount and blade. Although Mount and blade doesn't seem too graphically intense in comparison to the games of today, it eats a lot of memory. I want a computer that can run both of these to a good quality (maybe highest or high graphic settings) with minimum lag.

I don't want an alienware computer as it is just paying for the look and brand in my opinion. Also i am hoping to revert to XP as it will save a lot of RAM and CPU.

A good amount of RAM and CPU space is also a plus just incase.

Any advice or recommendations would be great and i appreciate any help that can be given. I will be looking at the moment for a computer, but i would appreciate recommendations for computers, or advice on what is good in a computer for my price range.

    Thanks in anticipation!

Yeah, don't get vista... I hear Windows 7 might be pretty good.

You should really build your own computer... It's very easy and it'll be 50x better then one off the shelf. Off the shelf PCs are a major waste of money.

I was only planning on reverting to XP from vista because nowadays you cant buy a computer without vista already installed. I am thinking of a HP or maybe a MESH.

I was planning on buying online

Previously my father built me my second computer, maybe i could ask him to do it again if i ordered the components, or even better ask him to teach me how to build my own

Google How To Build A Computer....the internet has lots of great info and plus some sites do comparisons of components, mother boards etcetera.
