Default Battleforge? Free? What is This Madness!?!

I dodged a bullet with this game. I was in a gamestop the other day and was torn between Battleforge or Cryostasis. After Much dispute, I chose the latter. Funnily enough, a week later Battleforge goes free! DODGED A BULLET. Anyways. Can you imagine how pissed everyone who actually bought that game must be? Well now you can vent in this thread. Go ahead. I dare you.

Well still if you buy the game you get like booster packs and more cards. It's kinda hard to trade stuff in Battleforge if you didn't pay.

It's basically a regular RTS. Nothing too hard about it and the card system is pretty worthless, it gives diversity but pretty much thats it. The card system is just a way to summon units like a regular RTS.

The game is pretty basic, but well polished and I like the feel of it. I'd play more if the free-to-play part wasn't so restricted. If you want anything in the game, you've got to pay for it. I don't want to pay for anything unless I know I'm going to stick with the game for a while.

I played for a couple of hours this week, and i don't think it's restricted at all. You can do everything somebody who bought the game can do, aside from selling stuff on the auction house, but even then you can trade with other players. Anyway, everybody that uses the auction house sells their stuff for BF points.(real money)

Somebody who bought the game will have more cards than you do, aka more units to choose from. But you still gain cards from doing the pve campaigns. For somebody to have a huge edge they would need to have spent a lot of money. Even then it's easy to spot these people, you just don't go pvp'ing against them.

I'd say 90% of the people playing are f2p users.

For what it's worth this week i was doing the first 2 player co-op missions. The guy who was with me was decked out pretty good, he obviously had spent some money on the game.

Know what happened? I had to defend the npcs from the infinite waves on ennemies by myself cause the guy was stuck at the last ennemy camp and his units kept getting killed. I ended up sending a couple units to help him so we could do the last battle.

He had probably just started, but still he spent some money and i didn't, but i still did better than him.

Honestly nothing is ever truely free, most free mmo's are pay to win. Battle forge is the same, but the difference is that in battle forge you don't have to play agaisnt the guy who spent 500$ to be the best if you don't want to.

Actually, you can use the auction house as well as trade cards. After you get the free version you have to play for a while to a certain rank or something, I forget what triggered it, then it says congratulations you have unlocked the real game etc. The auction house just does no good for you considering no one would want your cards, but ya its not really 90% people playing free, more like 10% at this point most of the people have good cards etc and you would get ***** in pvp. Oh and the whole doing one part for someone pales in comparison to what I had to put up with, I basically did the whole campaign for my partner twice in a row since he couldn't take care of his own route and I ended up even beating the final boss myself in both campaigns.
