Dunno I think they should add 3rd person view at least while your walking or doing nothing... just for fun, but while your in fight or something you can go back to 1st person, just like Elder Scrolls and Darkfall

Nah he's just not a ***** :O. I assume you've never played old UO when everything was in one world and you could murder anyone outside of town and take their shit. The rewards were great, but you'd become a murder and couldn't enter towns (besides one that was crawling with people just like you.. who would often kill you), other players can kill you with no penalty, and it takes FOOREEVVERRRRRRRRRR to return to normal.

And when I'd lose all my stuff, I'd go mine and craft myself some more! n_n Not to mention of course you keep all your money in the bank if you're smart. I did get sad when I was killed with lots of money on me. T__T

I've also never experienced something so scary and exciting as trying to run away from a SUPER strong dude who came up to kill me while I'm minding my own buisness, and sometimes actually being able to get far away enough to cloak myself or get into town. Corp Por scared the shit out of me whenever I saw someone say it cause it was often coming for me and was often deadly T__T

Just because UO was like that, it didn't mean the game was just a rampid murder fest by ANY means. Murderers were a minority, and there were also TONS of PKKs seeking them out and killing them. There was a great balance. Even a bounty system, if someone killed you you could put up a bounty on their head which would start to add up as more people would do it.

MAN, UO was so ****in awesomeeee.

I would imagine it is first person only to add to the stealth element. Wouldn't be very fun to be sneak up behind someone only for them to just rotate the camera and see you coming with you having no clue they saw you.

I don't think he's a ***** for not wanting to take part in a mindless gankfest.

Pre-Trammel UO and anything nowadays cannot be compared. The mindsets of people for the most part are completely different. When P-TUO was out the people who played it predominantly were table-top gamers and MUD/MUCK users who valued the experience of character development and roleplaying. Yes, there were some basic fraggers, but overall the community was about the experience. People killed other players because they considered that an appropriate action for their character from an RP mindset.

Nowadays most people in my experiences have moved away from the character development and community development aspect in relation to pvp and just want instant gratification and to humiliate people. They simpy want to kill you, take your stuff, and then make a forum post about how you're a stupid noob and should leave their game. I've always considered this the FPS mindset as it's how they approach the game from my perspective. You get in, kill everyone, grab the weapons, and move to the next game. No actual investment in the game really other than time. You can thank Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake for creating this special breed of assholery.

The mindset of FPS (2000-current) and RP (Pre-1999) gamers is just so completely different. This is my reasoning as to why Pre-Trammel UO just won't work anymore no matter if you want to try and disguise it as Darkfall, Mortal Online, APB, or whatever. There is just no emotional investment into games anymore from players and developers alike. Although, on the otherhand we have a surplus of asshole gamers who just want to ruin someone else's day.

I don't know about that man.. from the video there, it looks like first person view could do this game's graphics justice. I like the way it actually shows the guys hands when he bows down to his alter.

I played UO since beta, and rarely recall anyone RPing. People straight up murdered the shit out of eachother before EA games turned it dumb as ****.

I also enjoy the first person style alot.. darkfall was first MMORPG i tried with it and i just loved it. sure it sounds like it wouldnt be fun but it really is.

and in darkfall u pretty much only get those 3/4/5v1 fights only if u look for them by going alone.. well thats what i do alot but i can beat some random 5 ppl my self so i dont mind :3

    Different strokes for different folks.
I myself enjoy a good 1v1 or 2v1 fight when someone or a duo tries to gank me. However, when it goes past that it just simply gets annoying. Also, if I won a 5v1 I'd be pretty letdown at just how bad/disorganized/undergeared the other players were.

That was kinda useless flaming post

On-Topic: Been reading the forums and other places about the game and it seems pretty great so far. Im willing to take the leap of faith and pre-order it altho I've never tried. Might suck, might not. Who knows. The community seems great so far imo.

And I love the FPV idea already :3

if MO gets millions of players, that will mean you were right and im the only one who thinks that FPV in a FFA PvP fantasy MMORPG setting is the worst possible choice they could take

if MO crash and burns, and only several thousand players p2p it,and it becomes a niche game, you are SOL and i was right after all

    we'll see
We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

You're the only one flaming here, sir. He's sharing his opinion about the game, while you guys have nothing better to do than flaming everyone who 's expressing criticism.

Looks pretty amazing. I'll definitely try it either during beta OR when it comes out.
