Well my mother just told me a story from the other day. ^^
She was trying to trade her phone for an xbox 360, then trade the xbox for a Wii (on craigslist), because she really wants a Wii lol. The guy she was trading the xbox with kept texting/calling her everyday, constantly asking when can they trade. My mom would constantly tell him that she cant that day, because she is busy, but he would continually ask and say things like "Are we still gonna trade? I really want an Omnia (her phone)!" He would call and ask her, and when she says no, hes all "well fine!! bye!! *hang up*". ,
Well this went on for a few days, but my mom stayed calm and just thought the guy was extremely desperate. She said he sounded like alittle kid with the things he said, but it never crossed her mind that he truly was (ur supposed to be 18+ for legal transactions). One day he called and asked if they could meet at the lake, my mom said no cause she was busy, and he said "pleaseee, my parents are bringing my up to the lake right now and i rele wanna trade!" My mom was like "UR PARENTS? how old r u?" he said "15" and my mom said "whoa kid i cant legally trade with you, ur parents have to be with u", then he got mad and hung up.
The next day he didnt bother my mom, like wtf? So she texted him asking if he still wanted to trade, and he was like, well here is the text convo:
Kid: "NOPE, i already traded it for $100!"
Mom: "Well good for u!"
Kid: "Yep, and it only took 10min to negotiate with him, AMAZING RIGHT?!"
Mom: "Ooo woww, was he 15 to?!"
Kid: "Nope! He was 16!!!!"
Mom: "Oooo! Alright kid, well enjoy urself"
Kid: "O and erase my number off your phone *****!"
Mom: "I erased your number the minute u said u were 15, go sit down little one"
Kid: "YOUR MOM SAT DOWN!!!"
Mom: "I forwarded ur harassing msgs to the police, they should be at ur house soon." (messing with him)
Kid: "Fine, ill tell them ur harassing me to!!" (didnt work)
Then she just stopped messing with him, even though she could carry it on forever. She was laughing way too hard. Really immature kid trying to trade on Craigslist, yup, thats it.
My experience was craigslist is to expect the worst possible outcome because people are idiots and don't realize that a working tv with inputs doesn't mean a tv made last decade. That being said I've bought tons of stuff from craigslist and even found a nice place to live over the summer on it. Just be cautious and don't have high hopes and you'll be fine.
Never do anything the buyer demands if you feel its not necesary. If the buyer tells you to open the packaging because their might be a scratch on it, you say its MIB and tell him to buy it or GTFO.
