Reputation: 21Ok since we're already way off topic in this thread,I have a question.
Do they sell the expansions at local stores or only online,is there a price difference?
And,out of the expansion packs, which one would be the best to get? Factions seems cool with the whole assassin thing..
Reputation: 28Everytime I log in, everything is extremely packed.. or maybe I just didn't get to see when it was considered full , but it's more packed now than during prophecies (at least what I've went through so far).
Community is way different now as well. Contains a bunch of morons that can't spell anything outside the boundaries of TXT TLK, and noone is as helpful and "get things done" like they used to. I remember people just randomly asking people to go on missions, the population in a town/outpost was constantly changing, etc. Now you just go in and people are like LOL I HAS HEROES!
Who cares? Guild Wars isn't even that good. It had good features, but when nothing binds, you get to the max level cap in 2 days, and you can only use 8 out of your 300+ skills at a time, what is the point. The PvP in my opinion wasn't very good anyway.
t'is a little thing called tactics my friend. GW wasn't designed around grind, but collectability and planning.
As the developers have said, think about it in terms of a card game. You collect your skills, and then build your "deck" with a limited number.
Obviously GW wasn't for you. But IMO, its a great game.
I understand but why 8? It was so hard to set up an assassin, considering they used combos and shit. Ran out of room. Probably the reason trading card games suck....Plus GW got really boring, really fast. YOu got to 20 and the only thing left to do was get money, skill points(cough), and PvP. And like I said, the PvP was mediocre at best.

Reputation: 60not to burst youre bubbles.. but GW is pretty slick on getting their moneys worth..
each campaign has different skills to offer.. and most of todays top line builds require AT LEAST trilogy set to get into the pvp arena. you will find this out when u try to pvp and find out all the kids your class will be knocking you down and other neat skills while you cant do any good combos n such
sooooo..... 30 + 30 + 30 = 90 OR 40 trilogy?
even trilogy is not enough now.. you cant have perfect farm/pvp builds
anyway ign is phillip deez nuts if anyone also wants to join a nice pvp kurz ventrilo using guild. dont really play much anymore

Reputation: 60but there is hope.. just search PvX for ones that only require factions and w/e you have
you can make a nice unstopable farming build with proh/faction with assassin/mesmer and assassin/warrior for when you start to do pvp.
i just jumped into pvp because i got bored of campaign
Reputation: 9Careful when your picking your name because people will report you for nothing if they think your name is offensive. I had a char named britches and hose and got banned 72 hrs for that.

As someone else pointed out, Guild Wars is not actually a game you "leave" as the game has no subscription fee and no need to cancel. People can come and leave as they want.
I have no idea about the population, but I also know that it's hard to talk about, because GW is very instanced and as such it's hard to predict how many players are at different places.
With Factions, and Nightfall expanding the game greatly, and EOTN expanding the game further recently, people are getting more spread out across more content.
In the early days there would sometimes be 75-100 full districts in popular early game cities, like Lions Arc, and such, but it's the name of the game that these individuals fall away from the game relatively quickly.
I am amazed that so many people play it still, but not surprised, because it's one amazing game. Without a doubt one of the finest Online RPGs ever created. It's only true fault is probably that it asks so much of it's player due to it's hardcore learning curve.
What I really think is great is how the game can unlock stuff for Guild Wars 2, meaning that when Guild Wars 2 comes out, we will still have reason to go back and play GW1 which takes place hundreds of years in the past. In that way, Arenanet can keep both GW1 and GW2 alive and healthy at one time.
