* Seems that every monster is capable of dropping its card. If you collect three cards (A, B and C) you can transform into that monster for 18 minutes. Not sure if that means you get the skills/attributes, but it's still pretty amazing.
* There are mounts. Some are huge cats, some are cars (yes... cars). They require cash, though.
* Shops are free. That means you can put up a shop without cash.
* Daily chance event. Monsters will drop a capsule that takes you into a minimap filled with treasure chests and mimics that drop money and items.
* Play 1 hour for five days and you will be able to receive a special high-value item.
* Party system: Similar to Dragonica in the way that as the party hunts together you build a EXP jackpot that gets split between all the members at the end of the party.
I know, I'm hyping the game way too much. But... but... it might be the MS killer that I have been looking forward to.
Pah, It'll be the same as Maple Story with the dead community of GHOST. If it's ever brought here, Nexon will find a way to reel people back anyway. Maple Story is the 2D sidescrolling tycoon in North America and Europe. To say something that looks like Maple Story will replace Maple Story is simply not true and highly unlikely. Maple Story's established player-base is just too strong to die anytime soon and as the years go by they can simply make a sequel or implement a graphics overhaul. The only possible way a game like Maple Story will die is when the developer runs out of steam. But developers are fueled by money and Nexon is pretty much swimming in money now.
What makes 2D side-scrollers better than others is the content and the community, the more players, the more there is a demand for content, the more content, the more players. the cycle of a MMORPGs success is very, very hard to break and the only plausible way to break a games popularity is the royally **** it up with imbalance and whatnot. With Maple Story, they really know what they're doing with it. It's a very social game; like World of Warcraft and has enough content and people to keep balance in the game. PvP? Maple Story never needed it because the community never really cared for it and in a game like Maple Story it would simply be a waste of time to implement because of it being 2D the system would be too simplistic and unattractive. Maple Story is fine and with the continued support of Nexon, it will be for many years. People who see games and call out "THIS'LL BE AN X GAME KILLER!" should be beaten with a broad stick
Killzone is not the Halo killer
WAR is not the WoW killer
Taikodom is not the Air Rivals killer
and; Wonderking is certainly not going to be the Maple Story Killer
There's more the an MMO game than features and graphics, so much more; developers and publishers may not grasp them all but sometimes, SOMETIMES; they will grasp enough to make a loving and loyal playerbase with features fitting both the game and the playerbase. That OnRPG is what makes a game 'Killer'.
@ Tax : you are right with you answer but MS is allready killed and i think it wasnt that hard to kill because its not really a good game.
look at the top sidescroller and you will see that MS is not at the top ^^

naive...you know that a lot people hate xfire do you? that number is really small for me and i know many people who hate xfire so they dont use it. There are many statistics on other sites that show that dragonica is 1 (right now) and then (dont remember but i think) la tale. MS is so damn old and have nothing special to offer so its finish now. Go to some sites and read the statistic + comments about that theme and you will see that MS is not really that populated anymore. (the server is still full with people but thats not enough - mostly kids are playing ms right now or people who dont know that other mmorpgs exists)
