    Default Guild Wars..

If i do get it, which one should i get, guild wars, guild wars fraction, or guild wars knightfall? Dont tell me get the trilogy cause im not planning on wasting $50 for a game that could only last me 2 weeks, the orignal guild wars seems alright, only $20, if i get either fractions or knightfall, are those just expnsions or are they standalones. Also what is unique about each one, what does each other offer that the other ones dont, thanks you very much.

Factions, Nightfall and Prophecies are all expansions to Guild Wars so you'll have to get Guild Wars before you'll be able to play any of them.

Uhh no.... Nightfall and Factions are stand alone, You need Prophecies or any other for Eye of the North.

This guy is lying to you.. they are all stand alones..

However, I do really suggest u get the trilogy because if you do get hooked on, your going to have to pay more getting each seperately...
It's quite hard to enjoy Guild Wars to its full limit if you don't have all three..

But once again, since you said you just want one, i suggest Nightfall, newb friendly and you get access to heroes which are quite lovely.

Basically each game is a different world.

For example, if I had Nightfall and then i bought Prophecies, my characters from Nightfall would be able to travel to prophecies or I can make a character in Prophecies and that character can travel to Nightfall. All you get from adding the different games are 2 character slots, new classes, new skills, a whole new world and much more.

as others have suggested i would get the trilo. its not like your paying monthly. which acctually is really nice.

as for which i would recommend for you if your only interested in one? well depends really. nightfall is good generally pretty easy to level. factions has alot pvp addons, which you can fight for one faction or another. and prophecies give you quests with alot of free skills.

It's better to buy the Trilogy pack. It's also out on steam. Then you get the three main games, and you can always buy EOTN eventually.. that one doesn't have low level content.

It's hard to explain the ups and downs of each campaign. You just have to play them all They connect in many ways and compliment each other. Your character can get skills from the other games, as well as armor and loot if you have the other games.

    I really recommend it

If you don't plan buying ALL the exapnsion packs, don't even bother buying GW. You will need all skills to participate in PvP.

proph - has more of a western/European feel. this game has the main 6 professions that all the games have. the warrior, ranger, mesmer, elementalist, necromancer and monk. For more in depth about the classes i would go to guildwiki. the first game also the longest and slow to level and also imo best GW. The starting zone(pre searing) is pretty much like a little world only for chars made in prophecies and kind of a tutorial so its very nice for new players. the story of proph is the best of the 3 and its more of a challenge cause u don't get to 20 in 3 hours. also the level cap for any of the games is 20 so this game is not a grind fest cause killing monsters is not where the exp is. i know 20 sounds low but the game starts after 20. like someone else said before yu can make a char in any game except eotn and bring them to the other games.

factions - asian inspired, fastest to level, and shortest game. this expansion also brings you the assassin the profession who use daggers primarily, use criticals to deal higher damage and are good runners/some farmers. Ritualists are the prof who can use spirits to battle with or help the party with. they also use weapon spells to enhance the weapons of allies and themselves.

nightfall - african inspired, faster then proph but slower then factions in terms of leveling, introduces heroes which are like henchman so computer controlled chars but they lvl up with you and u control their skills and armor upgrades and weps. also NF introduces the last 2 professions the dervish and paragon. the dervish is a scythe wielding char that uses enchantments to power themselves and scythes which can hit up to 3 enemies if they are adjacent to each other. the paragon is a profession that uses shouts, chants and echoes to help the party and allies. they can boost damage, add armor, can start enemies on fire with attacks and bring the damage the party takes to a minimal.

eye of the north - the only "expansion" not a stand alone game as others have said u need one of the main games to access this expansion. this game doesn't introduce any new professions nor any new chars slots(the game u get gives u 4 slots then 2 for the next and 2 for the next) the content for this game is all high level also eotn has dungeons which are hard and the only way to get certain equips. eotn also has its own story and world but is just not its own stand alone game. This game also has new heroes you aquire throughout the game.

Each game adds new armor, equips, skills and a whole new game to explore and conquer so I would also advise like everyone else to get the trilogy since u would be saving money but if u only want one now i would get the one u are most interested in. NF is nice for the heroes, factions for the fast leveling and proph cause its the original and fun. If you do end up starting GW i have been playing since beta of the first so i wouldn't mind helping out. Add me in game as Victor Victoria (all you have to do is add one char from a person and it tells you what char they are on so u can whisper them) Also a nice active guild is always a plus for the help and friends.

IMO Sticky this or something, GW threads are appearing almost daily now and we keep having to explain ourselves. So read it, then read this quoted version, memorize it like you'll have a test on it and before you make another GW thread be sure its not mentioned above.

Like others have suggested I strongly suggest you to buy the Trilogy pack, but if you want to start out with one I think you should go with Prophecies, because of its awesome storyline.

I would recommend getting nightfall first just because you have access to heroes.

Guild wars only has 1 expansion which is Eye of the north. The other 3 are campaigns.

You don't need ALL the packs, I say NF and EotN will give you most the skills you need to kick ***.

having them all is a major benifit. if your into PVP i would suggest factions.
