    Default Comparasion - Again.

Sorry to ask this again, but currently I'm saving up for a decent laptop.

    I've chosen between these two:

    MSI GX630 - $783.99

    or

    MSI GX620 - $951.99

They both have the same specs but the only difference is the second one has a Intel Core 2 Duo P8400(2.26GHz) while the GX630 has a AMD Athlon X2 QL-62(2.00GHz). The GX620 also comes with a Vista home premium CD, while people say the GX630 doesn't, so that is like $300 for the CD, as I reformat sometimes.

In conclusion, is it worth paying about $180 more for a better processor and the CD? Will the Intel processor give better performance? Not just a couple FPS.

I'm currently thinking about going for the GX620 as it has a better processor and the CD comes with it. I don't mind paying a bit more, but I want your opinions. I also like the GX620's design better.

    Thanks.

    Not to forget:
Bigger HD makes up a huge portion of the price difference too.

Both have low *** resolution of 1280 x 800 though, which makes them a bad choice imo.

In your position, if you stick with your choices, I would really for once follow the manual and make a recovery CD instantly after getting the laptop and doing battery calibration etc.
    It's not a big deal.

Well the resolution is better than 1366x768 or something like that, which barely any games support.

I personally would probably get the cheaper one, since you don't have to reformat if you don't do anything that will screw your computer. And that most games aren't CPU dependent so if both laptops have the same GPU and CPUs that are pretty much the same, they should give similar results.

People say that the intel one runs cooler and longer battery life, so that's also a plus. I reformat quite a bit so I need the CD.

I'm actually fine with that resoultion, as the reviews say games run fine.

Well it's true that it runs cooler since IIRC the Intel is 45nm and the AMD is 6Xnm. Why do you reformat?

-.- Can't you just dual boot? Also, the Vista CD is only $150(Canadian) for an OEM, which is just the CD and COA. Here it is:http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...16832116485CVF So the CD is not $300, that's retail..

Oh, thanks for that. But I'm still thinking about the processor as I already have 2.2GhZ for my computer and I don't want to purchase something which is slower.

And, about dual boot, I don't know what I keep going back and forth though. Sometimes when I get lot's of files and computer starts to slow down I just reformat instead of cleaning it out. I don't keep very important files on computer so it's not a big deal.

I don't think you get my point at all.

    Also the reviews are BS.
You will not be able to run Crysis fluently from start to finish.

It also strikes me as odd, that MSI would have different policies for extras for those two very similar laptops.

I didn't understand fully as you just said the resolution was low. I'm sorry as I'm not that familiar with hardware, which is why I made this topic..

So, if it's a low resolution the graphics won't look as nice?

The .2ghz will not make a major difference, also you can overclock, which I don't recommend, but you can get a notebook cooler to help keep it cool.

Just clean the computer out...Reformatting takes like ~2hours to install, finding drivers, maybe another 1-3 hours, depending on how well the manufacturers keep the website's download section's condition. I say cleaning out your hard drive is less than that..I can get rid of 100GB in less than 5 minutes, but they're just a bunch of old restore points for Vista. And I have a 500GB hard drive and I only, truely use like 100GB....

Alright. Thanks for the reply. My brother in law already ordered the GX630 (2.0GhZ) for himself so I'll see if that is just fine. He didn't get it for gaming, just for browsing the web. I know he could've gotten one for cheap but he liked this laptop.

Go ask him if you can borrow it and test out the gaming capabilities. If he's just web browsing, he shouldn't mind too much.

You can never swap the screen in a laptop if it's shit.
That's why I would not get a laptop that has a resolution I do not want.

There are people who think, that 1650x1050 is to great a resolution for a 15" screen too.

As 1440x900 is the standard, you are going to get a sub standard screen. That's all I am saying.

Sorry to ask so many questions.
