I second this question, as I'm attempting to get a summer job as well, albeit unsuccessfully.

Well it's gonna be hard to get a summer job cause.......you're not the only one looking for one.
My advice would be research job openings in your area, fill out a bunch of applications for every place that you qualify for and turn all your applications in. Then if you get call backs go in and do the interview.......also if there is a place you especially want to work for then go in personally and ask to talk to the Manager.
Best Of Luck. :3
Edit: I suck at talking to Managers and usually I only got summer Jobs cause one of my family members was the manager or I had to flirt with older women........yes I feel no shame. Confidence, and kissing butt are the answers to all life's problems, oh and being related to the boss doesn't hurt.![]()
She knows how to party.
How's your CV? It's one of the most important things; I mean; you can be shy when talking to the manager (I mean; you have to sell coffee and shit, you don't have to have (.)(.) conversations with people).
I currently have 3 jobs (Model, ice cream seller+maker, journalist). You can compare my ice cream parlor job(s) with the coffee shop thing.
A summary of things you have to pay attention to:
- Be polite! Probably the most important one.
- Have a good CV.
- Pay attention to how you look.
- Hygiene. Brush your teeth, wash your face, cut your nails etc.. etc..
- Be honest.
- Put up a (fake) smile.
