Square Enix Sued For $5 Million Over Final Fantasy XI

A San Francisco, Calif. resident filed a class action suit against Wash.-based Square Enix Inc. last week, accusing the company of deceptive advertising, unfair competition, and unjust enrichment related to the online game Final Fantasy XI.

The suit, filed June 18 in the Central District of California U.S. District Court and uncovered by Courthouse News, is seeking $5 million in damages. "[Square Enix] engaged in various levels of deceptive advertising, unfair business practices, and fraudulent concealment with respect to the online games at the point of purchase," the suit said.

i personally found FFXI to be slow, repeditive, and over all lack luster compared to other games out at the time of its release, i will give it that it was pretty cool to have an mmo on the PS2, something never done before on any other console...oh wait!


But seriously, yeah it was pretty cool back in the day i guess, when nothing else was out for the PS2 other than Everquest online adventures, so i guess the square fanboys needed something to play so they can interact with each other and drool over moogles and the cat chicks.

I'll bet the "false advertising" bit is the fact that the Pandemonium Warden used to take an entire day to kill, and Square Enix encourages people not to prioritize the game over real life before they begin playing. >_>

Honestly, I hope he wins just so they will fix their ******ed billing system. I never got a message saying I was going to be billed twice. I was just going to play for a month, next thing I know I see 30 dollars pulled out of my bank account and they showed the next time I was getting billed was the next month, so I paid double for 1 month of gametime. I looked back and this happened a time before but I never noticed it, so meh.
