Uh FFXI was a great game, one of the best of its time. It came out before the WOW generation and has always had a decent size population 500K-750K.

The game was not bad in any way. Now it is dated and slow combat, but it is also over 6 years old.

It was never considered a disappointment or failure, what do you mean?

FFXi is the first and only successful MMO that is on both consoles and PC where both can play together on the same server.

Yes, while I like the casual aspect of other MMORPGs, I do tend to like grouping more..

Now I hope FFXIV will be the greatest casual (solo) and grouping mixed game.

incorrect my friend, PSO was the first, maybe in terms of having pc and Dreamcast players playing together.

No, PSO wasn't really an MMO.
It was room based and not massivly multiplayer.

Like guildwars, to many people not a real MMO.

Tho, still not really that popular.

I still believe double billing should be stated (or just completely removed) when you are subbing rather than in some fine print. I mean, who the hell bills you TWO times on a MONTHLY subscription? That's ******ed. I just want them to change that, at least for 14. Dear god they better not do that for 14.

Its not exactly two times, you get a part of you're first month before. paying.

So let me get this straight here. This person, first off, could not read the back of the box, where it clearly states that monthly online fees are required. Next, he failed to even somewhat skim the EULA for his game, or read up on the billing. Then, when he failed to make his payments, he didn't seem to understand that he wasn't going to be able to play the game without making those "monthly fees". Now after all of this, he decides, "Hey, I spent at most $50 on this game, and maybe a few months of subscription, but I can't play now. I know! I'll ask for $5 million dollars to cover my losses!"

Where the hell is natural selection when you need it?

And everybody, please stop bring in the stupid FFXI Vs. Whatver-game-this-week arguments into any thread the game is mentioned. Seriously, the thread isn't about the game, but some stupid guy who didn't understand the game's policies.

I subscribed on the 27th, 2x the subscription fee was deducted from my bank account, and the next payment was the end of the next month.

I paid two monthly fees for 1 month and 3 days. I fail to see why you are backing up this ******ed plan when they should just do monthly subscriptions like ever other ****ing company. God damn fanboys.

    just stfu fanboy.

Anyways we all know how ****ed up Final fantasy XI payment is, i really hate the fact about double payment (happened to my friend) and i agree to the people that this game should have MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION i swear if u pay with a credit card and stop playing after a month without knowing that they are still eating up ur money because u have to cancel it. This is retarted.

I love square enix but the payment for this game is seriously complicated to some people

Its the way it works, you only get charged in the begining of one month.

Its clearly explained, I even got it in the book that came with the game.

Perhaps this also is one of the reasons that they are stepping away from this payment method for FF14

Square isn't going to lose, this lawsuit is very faulty.
Considering FFXI is pretty fair on every part. Just takes away your soul if you plan on leveling to 75. :3

I didn't know SE was located in Seattle. I will have to apply there for an internship. I laugh at these kind of law suits you know they will never win.

A MMO hosts a large number of players in a single game world, and all of those players can interact with each other at any given time. Popular ones have thousands of players online at any given time, usually on a company owned server. Non-MMOs, such as Halo, Battlefield 1942 or Half-Life usually have fewer than 50 players online (per server) and are usually played on private servers.

The game state in an MMOG should never reset. This means that a level gained by a player today will still be there tomorrow when the player logs back on. MMOs often feature ingame support for clans and guilds. The members of a clan or a guild may participate in activities with one another, or show some symbols of membership to the clan or guild.

There's lots more, but I think that's good for now.

    Anyways, is this true?

    3. Penalties for late payment fees
    4. Interest charges for late payment fees
    5. Charges while the online game account is suspended
That takes a lot of balls on a company's part and would make me very leery to play any game that supported that kind of a policy.

I don't consider guild wars an MMO.
I don't consider PSO an MMO either.

Both are in all ways, instanced. (room-based ish)

People still call them MMOFPS, MMORPG or whatever.
    But, they aren't actually
