Default Do you really play MMOs?

I've played MMOs for many years and been on these forums for quite a few years as well. One thing i can't stand is when people complain about grinding in an MMO instead of looking at the rest of the game. Not saying a lot of people don't actually look at the game it's just that people, no matter what game it is, unless the company gave you 8 pairs of training wheels, will always say "Oh, there's grind in this game", "Too grindy", "I hate grinding". This is really part of the genre of MMOs until there's some kind of sudden breakthrough in gaming, for now though, it's part of the game.

If you really can not stand grind in a game, I'm guessing you aren't actually an MMO type of person if this is something you can't do in every game you play. I know what some of your answers will be already to respond to this already, just a common response procedure that you will say the same thing that quite a few other people will. I'm not going to be a complete *** about this though and just assume that if you can't grind, then you shouldn't play MMOs, there are some/most games that do have they're level of needed work too high for people to actually enjoy the game. Another thing is that I think some players blame grind on the game but it may actually be another reason, the feel of the game, the theme, the fact that you may not have communicated enough with other players and made friends or maybe haven't joined/made a guild.

I really just want you to see that grind is part of the MMO genre, again read the ending to the first paragraph. I'm kind of jumpy in my typing, my subjects don't always match up and I'm quite sure there have been posts just like mine, but eh, oh well. I am actually looking forward to seeing the upcoming responses, gotta love seeing someone's reaction to what you say.

it's not that i'm against to the TS but, it will bore you if you keep on grinding. a 'less-grinding' game (minimized grinding) will be great. just like what happened to me and my Flyff account. i stopped at level 97 because i got bored on grinding.

people have different tastes depending on the game. let's just try to understand the both sides..

You know what I find utterly stupid?

    Your opinions.

In theory, you had sex when you were born. Your little penis was in a vagina. Was it not?

There you go. My point made. Opinions differ. Grind is a grind when someone says it's difficult. Although it may not be officially a grind until several people agree.

I do, I agree with you, I do look at both sides, I'm a quarter on it's side. I understand what your saying.

This was just full anger, if you read more then just the original post, you'll see that I can agree on more sides then one, how about you calm down? I don't agree on what only I say, make a real response without the rudeness. Again love seeing people's reactions and responses to what I type, not in a mean getting a laugh out of it way, but a way that I like to see what other minds think since I can't see em for myself.

I don't know why people complain about grind considering some of the same have played some mmo's for years. They could have used a portion of the time they spent playing a game when they hit the cap a few years ago and used it reach it in another instead of spending those years, here, complaining about the oh so horrible rates. In other words, some people can spend years playing a game at the cap, but not spend years playing a game to reach the cap. Why?

That baffles me more than people actually complaining about rates because I know some people really don't have a lot of free time to sit around playing each day or everyday. But for the ones that do, what exactly is the problem when you spend the same amount of time playing something else anyway?

I hate it when pele complain about grind in general. Grind is basically
what keeps you modivated into getting a high lvl. It isn't about the finish line, its about the journey getting to the finish line! I just wish some games had some lower lvl content rather than focusing on the high lvls, but that is just me ^.^

@Kashis Yes people who player 1 hour a day 5 days a week shouldn't be complaining about much at all... but they do... and MMO developers should listen. There should be at least 1 or 2 MMOs out there that fit these people's wants/needs... they are right in some sense, it sucks when you love MMOs but all of them you have to actually be on several hours farming/grinding, 7 days a week to keep up with the rest of the crowd... and they have a life, jobs, perhaps a gf/spouse, and perhaps kids... they just can't keep up with the crowd, thus killing the game for them. There hopefully will be some games meeting these people's wants/needs soon enough... because sometimes casual MMOs like Free Realms just don't cut it. You want that feeling where it takes skill to win, not time.

Oh Mr. Psychologist. Don't get me started on anger. Online? anger? LOL. Don't make me laugh at your petty analysis of behavior online. You know nothing of anger and rage. Thank you for feeding trolls though, I can clearly see the "This was just full of anger" line as food for thought.

Seriously, don't judge anger by words. Judge anger by expression.

Wow, sorry but right now i can't think of a way to side with someone with a response where you bring in your personal problems of anger and can't settle down about my first post, which like I said I can side with others opinions. I'll leave it at that.

Go screw yourself with your anger. I put out my opinion and you flame it and **** it. Thanks a lot jerk. Stop replying and STFU. No one asked for your hostile response to what I said, asshole. I don't have personal problems, I have a problem with you being a wise guy and going off topic.

don't know what planet you're from, but having to kill 50000000000000000000000 enemies to level once doesn't make me think "OMG SO AWESOME I MUST GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL, THEN I'LL HAVE TO KILL 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 ENEMIES INSTEAD!"

I'm the same as others. The moment the game forces me to grind 60%+ exp because the company got lazy and decided to stop giving quests for more than one level I stop.

I also don't care when people say "OMG you quit in the boring part! It gets a lot better!" because the way I see it: If a game has a boring "tutorial" (usually levels 1-10 or 1-20) that doesn't keep me interested in the game long enough to get out, theres no point in playing.

well. i dont mind grinding but often there is little to no low/mid lvl content in games most games focus on the end game, so most of the time you have nothing else to do then grind. so obviously it gets boring. only games i can think of that has low/mid lvl content is silkroad with the trades and wow with the pvp

I can grind if the grind is smart grinding with repeatable quests and a high drop rate.
But grinding that starts before lvl 30 is grinding I can't stand....and won't deal with.
One example for me is Latale. Probably one game that I don't feel the grind that much because of the quests that they give me, sometimes the same ones twice in a row along with the fact that when I'm killing monsters, I can attack 3 at a time. I'm defiantly with you on this kind of grind.

Well if I had to put it out simply, I don't mind the grind itself, I just don't like FEELING the grind.

If I'm having fun while grinding then I wont mind at all, but when I can feel it then it starts to get to me.

People are still going to complain even when they get 0.03% per mob at level 98 when max level is 99. It doesn't really matter, they complain about grind even when the exp is super high like 1% anyway...

^Mygod, I would love that kind of exp on anygame at level 98. .03%permob. Godly.
1% at level 98 is too much. I agree. They complain about anything.

In LaTale you get 0.02% per mob at level 112 with a max level of 200 or higher. Of course, in LaTale it takes more time to kill mobs. ;/

Then, you can have a fully EXP enchanted clothing set, drink a peach can, drink a syrup, wear a 3% EXP title, use the 2x EXP events on weekends and at the end play with 4x - 5x EXP.

I can level twice at level 112 during the 2 hour 2x EXP event. That's 4 levels in less than 2 days. That's why I keep saying LaTale is one of the least grindy games out there.

i think that depend of the game u play and how much you are deep in it

i will take mabinogi example because i play it

i not fell grind because i always have other things to do , if i fell tired of gain exp killing mobs then i go to explore and i continue earning exp
or go to compose , train other skills or look for items and i still earning exp without fell tired of grind
then later just rebirth and bb grind again

I found my own way around grind in almost any game I play it's called private servers if I cant find one for the game I want I just play it and sucker some of my friends to play it with me. the only games I can say I never felt the grind was 12sky2 and irose and ryl2.

grind is not hard. it's tedious and boring. there is nothing hard about it.
