X-Men are above the Avengers? You mean in preference, right? Not power?
Ellie, I approve. Dark Avengers is probably my favourite of the Dark Reign tie-ins, maybe because it's closest to the main story. That and, naturally, Deadpool's tie-ins.

To be fair, the New Avengers aren't actually that powerful.
Dr. Strange is depowered now, so the current X-Men roster IS probably superior.
i miss the Dr.Strange who could rip your mind in half then hump it into submission.
Reputation: 154I read the comics in the newspaper...
I don't know why I don't go for comics, considering I've yet to see a movie adaption that I didn't like.
I suppose so, it's not necessarily limited to Marvel.
By the way, if anyone here is genuinely interested in getting into comics, I'll gladly help. Putting that out there.
Me too.
He was honestly one of the most powerful Marvel beings ever, besides the cosmic celestials or maybe even equal to some of the lesser ones. Out of all comics history, old-style Dr. Strange is/was one of the most powerful.
Reputation: 372When I was a kid, I read a lot of comic books. Not the heavier kind, intended for people looking for something more than a couple of minutes of entertainment, but stuff like Donald Duck and Calvin and Hobbes(if those qualify?).
When I became a teenager, I read Spawn and Conan, but read less and less comics, replacing them with books(because I felt I got more story for less money :P)
Now I don't especially like them or dislike them, I just don't read them anymore. I don't really care about media format a lot, whether it be movies, games, comics or books, as long as I like the story, setting and the characters(which is why I don't give a damn if a game has loads of cutscenes, or a book comes with pictures or not). If I don't find the story and the characters interesting, I can't enjoy something regardless of its gameplay, written excellency or good artstyle(of course these add to the experience).
As it is, the comic books I have seen haven't seemed "catchy" to me, though I'm sure that a guy with a lot of knowledge(like you norrin), could probably point me in the direction of a comic catering to my taste.
As for comics I don't like - Well I'm not much into super-heroes(don't mind people with supernatural power though), private eye stories/noir stuff, standard fantasy or science fiction. I don't exclude any of them if the story is long, "complex"(don't read into that :P), has depth and tries to do more thematically than simply serve as a means of self-insertion for readers with social issues(not implying that the above are such).
You might say, that I would be interested in reading anything that doesn't fall into the above category.
If there is a certain amount of originality, perhaps a mix of genre's or mix of settings, I would be more inclined to look into to it. And no people wearing their panties on top of their pants :P
The Common Sense United Front
ZAZAZAZAAAA, DADADADAAAA DAAAA, SHWAMSHWAMSHWAMMMM DUUUU DIIIII DAAAAAAAAAA
Has Deadpool ever seemed spidermanish, in costume looks to you...@Norrin
Well, yeah. That's part of the joke.
Toward the end of his first volume, Reign of the Deadpools, he was ALMOST killed by Weapon X (But didn't die because of Death not accepting him into her kingdom, hence his immortality). He came back with amnesia and when Weasel showed him a mirror, he said "Holy cheap Spider-Man rip offs. THIS is what I wear?".
So you wish to have some comic recommendations, but nothing about superheroes...hmm.
I guess check out anything by Daniel Clowes, author of Ghost World, including Ghost World. He's a good, non-superhero author.
I think The Punisher is quite awesome, not a super-powered hero but still interacting with enough of them that it's a varied story sometimes.
Shame, because this is out in August:

Art from Deadpool: Suicide Kings #4 of 5.
Look how fun that is/will be.
I don't see anything.
But
Nevermind bout that.
Oh god two of the chattiest super...people ever teaming up >.< I think I saw it before though.
Infact I believe I read Suicide Kings but I can't remeber what its about O.o
I'd say I'm still only entry level in the comicness >_> So I'd like to take you up on that offer as well.
Reputation: 33You've come a long way from trying to tell me about comics, haha.
What kind of stories/characters are you into? So I know what kind of stuff to recommend.
Sorry if I ask this question.. But do you consider MANGA as Comics too? Coz I'm actually reading it right now?..
Reputation: 67i used to, i guess i grew out of them
Reputation: 218I like Hsu & Chan comics. Aside from that, I'm not interested. I dunno why, I'm just not.
I would be, however, if they made a comic along the lines of like, Brütal Legend. Where it's got to do with metal as mythology if that makes sense.
And if KISS has comics, which I'm sure they do, they don't count as what I'm looking for LOL.
Reputation: 31Comics seem real interesting and all and I'd get into it sure, but there's just so many I don't know where to start.
If you don't like things too intricate and whatever, buy the Maximum Carnage trade paperback. One of the best Spider-Man stories ever.
I think Daredevil: Born Again and Daredevil: Guardian Devil are both excellent too (The latter was written by Kevin Smith). Hian should check those out too.
It can be intimidating, but you're only gonna read what you like. So it's not really an issue. I suppose, though, it feels like you're always gonna start reading them in the middle of a story.
That's most people, though. I mean, the amount of comic readers who were there at the beginning of Marvel are greatly outnumbered by those who were not.
Additionally, for anyone here; http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
If you can't find what you wanna know on that site, you don't belong near a comic book. It literally has everything you could need. Best Marvel site on the net.
The only ones i've been actively reading are the deadpool & cable ones..
also caught a few snippest of deadpool and the mini rhino. friggin hilarious.
Otherwise, comics are expensive. I have a few of them from when my cousin left his stuff in our basement, since he had a rather large collection, but not many.
hmm wish i wouldve gotten here before the thread got to 7 pages since now i dont wanna read it all lol but.....comics are the best when it comes to storytelling and taking imagination to the extremes, my favorite comics that ive actually read were marvel zombies, marvel zombies vs evil dead, the amazing spiderman(didnt read them all though but i did get pretty far into it, was kinda hard finding all the older issues lol) there are still tons of other comics i gotta start reading but i only read em on my spare time so its hard for me to read as much as i want, always wanted to get into the deadpool comic since hes a pretty cool character but ill have to hold that off for a while
Speaking of zombies...anything with em that has to do with like...suriving some outbreak? I love shit like that >_>
