Question about elections/polls etc.

say in the unlikely situation in an election/poll, what would happen if the votes were counted multiple times, & were tied, 50/50?
i'm thinking at that point they'd urge everyone who hasn't voted yet to vote, but what if then, it's still tied?

just something random that came into my mind a while back, since there's a referendum taking place soon where i am. :u
